Friday's Finest

With the extra long weekend ahead (Well in the UK at least) we have an extra special Friday's Finest for you, something for everyone! Us and Slate The Disco have been at it again finding you the best tracks of the past week, enjoy!

Slate The Disco: ILLLS – Teeth
Hailing from Oxford, Mississippi, ILLLS are set to release their début EP ‘Dark Paradise’ on June 17th on London’s The Sounds of Sweet Nothing label (Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Gross Magic, Tashaki Miyaki, Au Palais). Oxford, MS might not be known as the epicentre of garage rock but taking their cues from Jay Reatard and Jeremy Jay to The Cure and My Bloody Valentine, like any young band with a welcomed sense of naivety, they dived in headfirst, set about recording over the course of a year, which turned into their début EP.

It's All Indie: Fast Years – Let Me Try
If you’re a fan of The Vaccines and The Drums then you’ll definitely love what this band has to offer! With vocals that remind me of The Beach Boys and riffs taken straight out from a Vaccines song this American band are making waves over the ocean in the UK with this hit!

Slate The Disco: Crocodiles – Endless Flowers
San Diego’s Crocodiles have unveiled the second single to be taken from their forthcoming third album and have been confirmed to support The Cribs on their imminent UK tour. The new single ‘Endless Flowers’, out June 11th, is taken from the album of the same name, out June 4^th on Souterrain Transmissions. It sees the band, as vocalist Brandon Welchez describes himself “stepping from monochrome into full colour” with a fuller, brighter sound that proves the ‘lo-fi’ genre tags to underestimate their capabilities, whilst retaining all of their skuzzy intoxicating charm.

It's All Indie: Cave Painting - Gator
Their latest free track is called ‘Gator’ and it’s a tropical-indie-pop track that can get everyone who downloads it a warm feeling inside. From the vocals to the guitar tones and the light airy synths. This band have crafted such a great sound by blending some simple instruments and making a sound of their own that you can believe will be catchy and will be massive, just you wait!

Unanimous: Alpines - Empire
I (Fred) personally have been spinning the demo version of this and their other older songs quite a lot recently, and then this appeared. A good future is certain for them!

Track of the week... Alpines + Craze & Hoax - Gold

A nice dark track from the electronic duo, also this track features the crazy remixers and producers 'Craze & Hoax', they give this track more depth to it yet still keeping it's fluidity. When most tracks get more layers you get lost in the sheer mess of it all, not this track, it's solid the whole way through.

I for one am a fan of there new collaborations project, instead of doing one single per season and releasing a load of remixes they're doing great collaborations with little known producers and artists, and it's paying off!

Daily Download... Alpines - Survival

Alpines are from Kingston-Upon-Thames in London, their music can be described in a few ways. Indie-Dub-Step would be a lazy way in putting them into a pigeon hole but Electronic synths, wobbly bass and thudding drum lines is what they are all about. We've previously mentioned the electronic duo before and now they have an amazing free download to give away, all they need is a 'like' on the facebook site and it's yours!

Introducing... Alpines

Alpines are from Kingston-Upon-Thames in London, their music can be described in a few ways. Indie-Dub-Step would be a lazy way in putting them into a pigeon hole but Electronic synths, wobbly bass and thudding drum lines is what they are all about.

They only have 3 'studio' tracks on their soundcloud - 'Cocoon' and 'Drive' are below - and both of the tracks are intoxicating to the perfect measure. They have seemed to find the niche that The XX found when they rose to fame, something new with a touch of the familial. If I had to pick a track for you to listen to out of the 3 that they have, I'd have to choose 'Drive'. Pulsating beats, wobbling Dub-Step bass but with the gentle vocals and charisma of any established artist. Everything about them shouts success!
