Kaiser Chiefs and Tom Odell join the line-up for MTV Crashes Coventry

MTV UK today announced that Kaiser Chiefs and Tom Odell will join Chase & Status for Day One of MTV Crashes Coventry on May 27th! Club MTV will close the two-day event for a stadium shattering finale with a second night of dance anthems and huge hits on May 28th, acts to be announced next week.

Kaiser Chiefs said: "We can’t wait to crash Coventry! We played MTV Crashes Plymouth two years ago and it was amazing, we are so excited to do it all over again this year!"

Kaiser Chiefs unveil unreleased song "Falling Awake"

Kaiser Chiefs have unveiled a brand new track called "Falling Awake". The indie rock band's new track is taken from their upcoming sixth studio album, which is expected to be released later this year. It could even be a b-side, or an extra track.

5 Reasons Why Glastonbury 2014 Was So Great

Make no mistake, Glastonbury is a very, very special place. 'You haven't experienced a festival until you go to Glastonbury' people had told me. I must admit the first few hours I was skeptical. But by the time your tent's up and your bags are unpacked, you realise that Worthy Farm really is worthy of it's often referred to title as 'the best festival in the world'.

Five days spent in the depths of Somerset is hardly enough time to sum up every nook and cranny of every muddy field, but here's a little insight into the five delights that make Glastonbury so great:

1. The people

As you stroll around the site you’ll soon realise there really isn’t a stereotypical audience that come along to Worthy Farm; Glastonbury welcomes everyone from all walks of life. The one thing they all have in common though is their love for the festival. Everyone's friendly and there’s no argy-bargy when it comes to slipping through the crowds to get near the front of your favourite band.

2. No limits

The TV doesn’t quite do justice to how big the site is. With there being no main area for all the stages, you can take your luke-warm cans of cider anywhere with you, and if you’re lucky enough to get a good camping spot, you may even be able to sit at your camp and enjoy bands from afar. 

3. Secret Sets

Glastonbury holds host to some of the best secret sets going. There may be some leaks along the way, but the crowd aren’t often left unhappy with whoever turns up. Whilst there’s no ‘big acts’ on the Thursday night there are two secret sets; this year being The 1975 and Metronomy. Other ‘to be announced’ slots included Kaiser Chiefs and The Kooks. As for the sets we knew would happen there’s still some surprises in the form of covers; Kasabian, Blondie and Glass Animals were just a few to throw in some interesting covers along the way.

4. After Hours

The Pyramid Stage headliner’s finished and you’re heading for bed? No chance. Glastonbury’s just as alive at night as it is in the day, and if you’ve spent all day seeing bands it’s the perfect chance to explore the rest of the festival. Every bar you walk past is buzzing and Shangri La will take you to another world altogether. If you’re more of the chilled type somewhere like The Stone Circle may tickle your fancy where you can watch the sun rise if you still have the energy.

5. The Food

When it comes to festivals the food isn’t usually the thing people rave about. You usually end up with a dent in your bank account and a sloppy burger in return, however at Glastonbury you pay for what you get. From far away cuisines like peri peri chicken to home bred pasties, the amount on offer is enough to wet your appetite.

But let's not forget, more often than not, with Glastonbury comes one bad thing... mud!

Two Secret Glastonbury Shows Announced

Over the course of today, as Glastonbury gets underway, two secret shows have been announced to take place over the weekend.

Kaiser Chiefs will play The Other Stage tomorrow morning at 11am before closing the John Peel tent tomorrow night. Ricky Wilson said "It's going to be great...We're really looking forward to it. My voice now is better than it's ever been." There's a guarantee that the set will be packed with hits that have got the band to where they are today. With this set being confirmed, the band are being labelled as one of the most hard-working bands of the weekend with them booked to play two huge shows in one day. Keep an eye out for coverage of them!

Another show has just recently been confirmed on Communion's Gentlemen of the Road stage. What band is highly associated with that name? You guessed it, Mumford and Sons. Having headlined the Pyramid Stage last year and closing the festival all together, the band have remained quiet since and rumours starting spreading that they would return from a small hiatus at the legendary festival. It's no secret that the band love to tour and play live shows.

 Other artists confirmed to take to the same stage includ Johnny Flynn, Michael Kiwanuka, Nick Mulvey, King Charles and more.

We can expect a few more surprise sets across the weekend, especially on the BBC Introducing stage. Who could it be?

Weather they're relative now or not is irrelevant, they were one of the biggest bands back in the mid to late 00's and now they've got a new album - "Education, Education, Education & War" - which you can listen to snippets of here!

NEWS: Kaiser Chiefs return

Kaiser Chiefs are set to return to the European festival scene this summer, having been booked for Switzerland's Gurten Festival this summer. The Leeds band have been on hiatus since 2009 and last released an album, 'Off With Their Heads', in 2008.

News coming from NME states that they are preparing a new album for release this summer, with rumours possibly in June. The Gurten Festival is their only confirmed live booking of the year so far, with Arctic Monkeys, Underworld, The Streets and Jamie Cullum also on the bill. But keep an eye out for homecoming shows with a warm up gig being likely too.



The event takes place on July 14-17. See their official website for more information. The new album is set to be released on the band's new record label, Fiction. Of which has the likes of White Lies and The Maccabees
