[INTRODUCING] October Drift

We've been following the band for a little while now and after we heard their latest track "Still Here" we just had to write more than just a news article on them! Located down in the depths of the South West of England the band have been making a name for themselves for a while now and after "Still Here" dropped there was a frenzy of media attention all over them.

They've managed to do a sold-out headline tour before the release of a début album and have been working hard on filling bigger venues all over the UK on their current tour, one show for example was at Sheffield's Leadmill venue, which always sees the best up and coming acts from round the UK stopping by.

Their sound is a blend of post-rock, post-punk and some experimental elements combined with some distinctive vocals and a dash of synth and fuzz too. The band have just released their new EP "Stranger Days" via Scruff of the Neck Records and after heading it we're predicting they'll be filling big venues within the next year or so! You need to check them out!

[LISTEN] CROWS - Unwelcome Light

London's very own noise-rock band Crows have shared the title track from their new EP, "Unwelcome Light", which is due out on March 25th via Telharmonium Records. If you're a huge fan of The Horrors last album then this tune might be up your street.

Screaching guitars, prolonged vocals and guitar noise all a wash with distortion, it's a cocktail for sexyness. You can listen to the fierce new cut below.

Holy Esque reveal video for "Tear"

Holy Esque continue to bring artistic visuals with a powerful message to their promo videos today by releasing their new film for current single, "Tear". Directed by William Kennedy, the film tackles the depression and loneliness, an issue that is becoming increasingly more prevalent since austerity measures have hit London’s youth culture.

Kennedy said -"The film is about a lonely young woman who loses the ability to dream, who struggles to make ends meet, trapped in a routine and cut off from the people around her. She finds a way to escape her reality through a fleshy, leech-like creature that she keeps under her bed. She becomes addicted to the sensation, despite knowing that the parasitic creature is slowly taking over her mind and body. The story is cyclical. There is no end. No resolution. There is only routine, and a desperate yearning to escape."

[LISTEN] Embers - The Bitten Tounge

Embers are back, and it's been a while. Since releasing their 'live' videos over a year ago they literally disapeared off the radar. Their drummer has been flying the flag with his solo work but it's Embers that we've been longing for, and their latest effort "The Bitten Tounge" smacks you in the face and tells you to wake up. It's a relentless wall of noise that tells you the quartet are here and are back for good (not a quote from a Take That song by the way...).

Listen to it below, my god it's exciting!

Savages announce new album "Adore Life"

Savages have announced a brand new album, called "Adore Life" it was produced by regular collaborator Johnny Hostile, the album was recorded at RAK Studios in West London, with aid from engineer Richard Woodcraft.

The band said - "It’s about change and the power to change. It’s about metamorphosis and evolution. It’s about sticking to your guns and toughing it out. It’s about now, not tomorrow. It’s about recognizing your potential. It’s about self-doubt and inaction. It’s about you. It’s about me. It’s about you and me and the others. It’s about the choices we make. It’s about finding the poetry and avoiding the cliché. It’s about being the solution, not the problem. It’s about showing weakness to be strong. It’s about digging through your dirt to look for diamonds. It’s about claiming your right to think unacceptable thoughts. It’s about boredom and the things we do to drive it away. It’s about being on your own so you can be with people. It’s about knowing what it means to be human and what it might mean one day. It’s about the parts and the sum of the parts. It’s about the music and the message: together, one and the same. It’s about bass, guitars, drums, and vocals. It’s about opening-out and never, ever dying. But most of all it’s about love, every kind of love. Love is the answer."

Adore Life track-listing

  2. Evil

  5. I Need Something New
  6. Slowing Down The World

[LISTEN] Egyptian Blue - Do You Think You're Worth Your Soul?

Fresh out of Essex (not Compton) is Egyptian Blue, a quartet who are looking to make a name for themselves as the next hype band, and judging them on their latest track "Do You Think You're Worth Your Soul?" I think they well could be up there. They've got the big Peace like guitars in the verses and an awful lot of energy, I can imagine a show of theirs would be very furious indeed"

Sounds of 2015 - #6 - Nothing But Thieves

Nothing But Thieves have been slowly creeping into the conciousness of the general public from the start of the year, releasing an EP and a single along the way as well as supporting Twin Atlantic and numerous festival slots dotted in and around the UK. The Southend-On-Sea based band have penned a deal with RCA Victor and have an album at the ready, hoping to bring back guitars for 2015.

Their sound ranges from 2000's Radiohead vocals crossed with darker guitar hooks, bringing to the table their own brand of Post-Rock, very emotive and very anthematic at the same time. 2015 will see them embark on their own headline UK tour and will hopefully see them play their own town for the first time in ages. Essex is currently a hotbed for brand new music, and the county has always been pushing the boundaries for developing bands crafting their own sound.

You can listen to some of their work below.

A week after releasing their debut album- "The Day's War" -, the band from Cambridge dropped into BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge to perform a very special cover of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time".

Their rock roots have not tarnished this cover in anyway, it really brings a classic back to life and into 2014, big vocals, delicate guitar tones and reverb, we love it! Check it out below!

New Order sign with Mute for new album

The 80's synth band has now signed a deal with Mute, the news comes after a week of ifs and buts regarding working with DFA's James Murphy, now known to be just media guff.  - We even reported on the possibility of a new album earlier this year.

The album will be a follow-up to their most recent release "Lost Sirens", which in many fans and critics view was better than the "Waiting For The Sirens Call" - hopefully more good news will be coming out soon, demos perhaps? more songs being débuted live? Who knows, but as a fan I can't wait to see them play! All I hope is that a new song called "Drop The Guitar" will be released!
