[LISTEN] The Dunwells - King (Years & Years Cover)

The Dunwells have covered one of last years' biggest tracks, "King" by Years & Years. The band started their career gigging with Jamie Lawson and touring the States (including Lollapalooza), but have now just also announced plans for the release of their second album "Light It Up", out February 26th.

[TONIGHT] Phantom Runners play in LONDON

 

 

Brighton new wave pop 4 piece, currently on a 12 date tour which included a sell-out home town gig in Brighton (Hope & Ruin) Bristol (The Louisiana),  Bournemouth (60 Million Postcards) and London TONIGHT upstairs at The Garage (Islington).

 

Consisting of frontman Adam Al-Hilali (lead vocalist and guitarist), Olivia Pearce (vocalist), Robbie Blyghton (synth player and bassist) and Sam Slattery (beat maker). You can expect an electronic based sound drenched in eighties nostalgia with lots of bass. Notable influences include Blood Orange, Caribou, Years & Years as well as Modern English.

Phantom Runners are currently working with Mark Ralph (Years & Years, Hot Chip) on the production of their new tracks.

Phantom Runners announce UK Tour

Four piece new wave poppers Phantom Runners have announced their UK tour, with a focus on towns and cities along the South and West. With a brand new sound, think Blood Orange meets Years & Years meets MJ and a new line up which includes a girl, be sure to catch them at a venue near you.

A big hometown headline show is planned in Brighton on the 27th October, more details on tickets and venues here.

[LISTEN] Years & Years - Eyes Shut (Honne Remix)

 The electro-pop outfit have remixed Years & Years' latest single "Eyes Shut". The remix is a far cry from it's electro-pop original but features the lyrics "I want to be bigger than life" being looped a lot, some thick synths and bass.

Years & Years have today revealed their video for "Eyes Shut", which looks like it's been sent in an apocalyptic landscape! Here we see Olly wander around the complex singing towards us all lovingly. Just watch it to know what I'm on about.

[WATCH] Years & Years - Earned It (The Weeknd Cover)

Years & Years debut album is out THIS WEEK and it's expected to go straight to number one in the album charts, but before all of that comes to a conclusion the band popped into BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge to perform a stripped back cover of The Weeknd's "Earned It" - the track once again showcases Olly's vocal abilities, scroll on down to check it out.

Years & Years reveal video for "Shine"

Due out on July 5th, Years &; Years are today revealing the video to single, "Shine". Which comes ahead of their sold-out shows at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire this week (12th & 13th, June) and the trio’s début album, Communion, due out via Polydor Records on 10th July.

Introducing... ZIBRA

After exploding onto the dance floors with their electrifying brand of glitch indie last year, London outfit ZIBRA have now unveiled their latest offering, Great White Shark. The track, lifted from the brand new ‘EP 2000’, is another snapshot of the band’s signature stadium-sized chorus chants, clattering guitars and punchy, anthemic riffs. ZIBRA’s debut track Heartache gained early support from BBC Introducing and Zane Lowe who made the band ‘Next Hype’ when playing the track. The trio have been busy honing their craft on the live circuit, playing alongside Coasts, Years & Years and Sunset Sons, across the UK, ahead of this summer’s festival season. Great White Shark is the lead track to be lifted from ‘EP 2000’, which also includes ‘Eclipse’ and ‘Vibrance’.

ZIBRA cover Years & Years' "King"

ZIBRA have just came off a stint supporting Years & Years on their UK tour, and it looks like it's the trio have rubbed off of ZIBRA. Their cover really compliments the original but the band have totally took it over putting their own glitchy electro-punk rock (combo) sound on it, and it's well worth the listen if you're into either band!

ZIBRA unveil "Chlorine" video & Years & Years, Saint Raymond and Coasts support shows

ZIBRA have had a great start to 2015, with their own shows at the start of the year, releasing a new track, and now a video to accompany said track - "Chlorine". They've also just been announced as support for ears & Years, Saint Raymond and Coasts all over the UK. Looks like they may just be massive in 12 months time!

Years & Years unveil "King" video

Today Years & Years are proud to reveal the video to their new single "King", which follows on from their BBC Sound Of win and the selling-out of their June 12th Shepherds Bush Empire show - which sold-out within 10 minutes of going on sale last Friday morning. A pretty impressive achievement considering they were an unknown quantity this time last year.

Years & Years have popped into Radio 1 to celebrate them winning the BBC's 'Sounds of 2015' list, and while they were in they recorded a cover of Haim's "Don't Save Me"

Sounds of 2015 - #3 - Years & Years

We first heard Years & Years via a Kitsune compilation album earlier on this year, "Real" was the track in question and it welcomed us to their world with uplifting and anthematic choruses with big dance elements that's just screaming to be played in clubs all over the world. We're a big fan of theirs and in at #3 is the highest electronic act on the list.

They've also already played massive venues all over the UK thanks to Mr Sam Smith taking them on tour with him a few months ago, and also they've broken into the Radio 1 playlists with their latest effort "Desire" and the collaboration they've done with Tourist. With a couple of EPs put out in 2014, a collaboration with a top producer and covering one of their favourite bands, it's safe to say that 2015 will see Years & Years' début album crash the Top 20 album chart, and dare I say it ... Top 10, easy! They're taking their sounds on tour next year with such venues as Heaven in London welcoming them, all they need now is a great support act to make it more of an occasion.

Jams Bay, Years & Years and George The Poet for 2015 Brits' Critics Choice Awards

One of the artists mentioned will go onto win the 2015 Brit award for the Critics Choice, former winners have been Adele (2008), Florence & The Machine (2009), Ellie Goulding (2010), Jessie J (2011), Emeli Sandé (2012), Tom Odell (2013) and Sam Smith (2014).

So it looks like whoever wins it will have a big year next year and will be huge thereafter!

Years & Years today on soundcloud shared a deep house remix of their stunning latest single, "Desire". The knob twiddling was done by Zac Samuel who's starting to get a name for himself as a great producer.

Years & Years cover All We Are's "I Wear You"

Following the release of their latest single "I Wear You", Liverpool based All We Are see their slick, falsetto lead track transformed by rising trio, Years & Years. All We Are's début album will be released on February 2nd 2015 on Double Six Records.

Years & Years unveil video for "Desire"

Following their TV début on Jools Holland last week Years & Years are pleased to unveil the video to current single "Desire". Directed by Sing J Lee the clip delves into the exploration of voyeurism and the contextualisation of lust and love. As Lee describes:

"After getting hooked on the track, the boys sent a note through about the meaning of the song, a cyclical conflict of being a slave to desire and the blurring between the lines of lust and love. This in mind, I wanted to create something sensual and surreal, and it felt right that we should visit a strange world set within an apartment block and fleetingly peer into the lives of characters as they voyeuristically and hungrily fantasise over watching each other, with Olly playing the enigmatic raconteur."
