Alt-J to headline Latitude Festival

Alt-J have been announced as a headline act for Latitide Festival in Henham Park, of which takes place on the 16th to 19th of July.

Speaking about the announcement they said:

"We are hugely excited to return to Latitude for the third time. Playing there has always been so memorable. Latitude has always supported us, and to go from playing the smaller stages to this means it will be a night of celebration."

Latitude organiser drops 2015 headliner hints

Melvin Benn, the founder and organiser of Latitude, has revealed that all three headliners have been booked for next year's festival, including "someone extra special who we've been trying to book for years."

 
He goes on to say "We’ve got one act in particular who is someone extra special who we’ve been trying to book for years.". and continued to say "Another of our headliners is someone who has risen through the ranks of the festival and will be topping the bill for the very first time. The third is someone who has headlined Latitude before"

Teenager dies in hospital after being airliftfed from Latitude Festival

An un-named teenager has died after attending Latitude Festival in Henham Park, Suffolk after being airlifted off the site. The teenager died early Sunday morning at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital after being taken from the festival in Southwold at 4.30pm on Saturday, July 19th.

A statement says the teen suffered an "isolated medical condition" which is not being treated as suspicious. It reads:

"A 17-year-old male attending Latitude was airlifted to hospital on Saturday afternoon and died in the early hours of Sunday morning. The young male suffered from an isolated medical condition. The police are not treating this as suspicious."

Two Door Cinema club pull out of Latitude Festival 2014

Their Friday night billing was set to be their first as a festival headliner, where they’d be joining Damon Albarn and The Black Keys as bill-toppers for the Suffolk festival. A show at Bournemouth Academy has also been cancelled - it was set to take place on 17th July.

"It is with a heavy heart that we are going to need to cancel our upcoming shows at Latitude and Bournemouth Academy. Alex collapsed at Seattle airport on the way to London and has been hospitalised with a chronic stomach complaint. We are devastated to have to cancel shows that we were so looking forward to. We can only apologise and hope for your understanding at this time. Love TDCC x"

But it's ok, Lilly Allen will be replacing them!

Bombay Bicycle Club, Tame Impala & Eagulls announced for Latitude Festival

Bombay Bicycle Club, Tame Impala & Eagulls announced for Latitude Festival and elsewhere, you'll now find First Aid Kit, East India Youth, Jungle, Slowdive and Kwabs joining the line bill for the Suffolk festival.

Latitude Festival will take place at Henham Park in Suffolk. Tickets are available now, with Latitude Weekend adult tickets priced at £182.50 and child tickets (aged 5-12) are available for £5, with no booking fee. 

 

Damon Albarn to Headline Latitude 2014 and Release's New Single (Listen)

Blur frontman, Damon Albarn has been confirmed as Latitude's second headliner and to coincide with the announcement, has shared his first official solo single, 'Everyday Robots'- a track taken from his forthcoming debut solo album of the same name. (Listen and watch the video for the single below)

The news, that was announced via the Suffolk festival's Facebook page earlier this evening, comes a mere day after Albarn himself confirmed the release date and track listing of his first solo effort and means that his alleged 'only UK festival date', will take place on the Saturday night of the festival, whilst Two Door Cinema Club are already in place to bring proceedings to a close on one of the other remaining nights. 

Album Cover For Damon Albarn's First Solo Album

The album, which is scheduled to hit selves on April 28th, will feature collaborations with 'Bat For Lashes' singer, Natasha Khan and ambient music innovator, Brian Eno. Commenting on the albums producer, which is set to be XL records boss Richard Russell, Albarn said: "Richard does the rhythmic side and I do everything else - it's sort of folk soul." Praising the music mogul further, he goes onto add: "We worked together on the Bobby Womack record, and really enjoy working together. He's done spectacularly well as a music mogul, but I think he wants to focus his energy on producing records. Making a solo record can be such a disaster, so I thought if we're going to make a record with my name on it, I should get someone to really produce it – take that responsibility away from myself."

Latitude festival will take place in July from Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th and acts such as Haim, Billy Bragg and Anna Calvi are already confirmed.

Two Door Cinema Club has been announced as a headline act for Latitude next year. The Suffolk Festival is highly regarded as the best 'small' festival, but after last year's headline acts - Bloc Party, Foals and Kraftwerk - other festivals are now going to up their game!
