[GIG REVIEW] Darwin Deez @ Technikum, Munich, 2nd November 2015

A small exciting venue, great atmosphere and a lot of fun:
Darwin Deez provided a great night out! Playing a mix of old and new songs, the band hit every note of their funky, happy guitar sound. The band's dance sessions in between their songs proved that Darwin Deez concerts are a place where nothing is taken to serious. The sound was excellent, with the group showing that they are great musicians. Darwin's love for music was clearly visible throughout due to his infectious smile.

[LISTEN] Darwin Deez - Time Machine

Darwin's back in business. Infectious, echoey riffs on his custom 4-string guitar make for a classic Darwin Deez tune. It's a song that will make you want to get up and dance. It's a song that's hard not to love.

The four-man group led by the charismatic Darwin Smith have released "Time Machine", the second single from and the fourth track on their forthcoming LP "Double Down". "Songs for Imaginative People" never quite reached the heady heights of his self-titled debut album, but with no less than 14 UK tour dates (link below) in line after this album release, fans should be flocking to see Deez's quirky dance moves and addictive indie-pop concoctions, new and old.

Following on from "Kill Your Attitude" released earlier this year, this song is another great example of Darwin's lyrical and melodical talent. Summery pop at its purest, he is not disappointing. Give it a listen, below.

The album will be released on the 18th September through Lucky Number.

It's All Indie: Top 20 - #7

Darwin Deez - Radar Detector

We've been following the freakily follicled Mr Deez for a while now. Radar Detector, with its sweet lyrics, "It's only been a week, but I know that you are mine to keep". Self-described as "happy music for sad people, white music for black people," Darwin gives a surprisingly accurate rundown. His music sounds like he's trying to convince listeners to be happy, and it works.

The events in his lyrics sound tempting, but don't "ding-dong-ditch a Televangelist" until you finish dancing. I will give more credit to the music than other reviewers did though, for it is incredibly pleasant to listen to.
