As we reported last month The Cads are back and are bringing a great new track with them. 'New Seed' is out as a free download today from the amazingtunes website. This is also the first single from their début album Lessons:Illustrated, which is out August 20th 2012 on Deaf Surfer Records.
What happens when the lead vocalist of The Cads wants to create some minimal guitar based music? Well Duck House is the outcome. The songs are both on the verge of Chillwave and Tropical genres and the vocals from Stefan are just as great as ever!
'Flaws' is more of a Tropical affair and will easily get the attention of anyone who loves The Cads, Coasts and Trophy Wife. The other song Duck House has uploaded has more of an Electronic and Dance base rhythm to it with some hints of 90's House thrown in for good measure. It is nice to see bands experiment with genres these days as I feel that there isn't a lot of bands going out to be adventurous with their music. One thing is for sure. Duck House could change the face of guitar music for the better! You can listen to both of the tracks below!
This is a bit late but The Cads are back with new Music. "New Seed" will be released on July 17th as a free download! This will also be on the début album Lessons Illustrated, available 20th August 2012.
Who have gone from local shows to playing in Germany to playing 'The Lake' stage at Latitude Festival? The Cads have! Forming in September 2009 (originally as a four piece) they play Tropical music with a Indie twist to it. They have built their reputation on having brilliant songs, stunning performances and brilliant visuals as seen in their videos. Their latest endeavour is a brand new single 'Club Of Rome' backed with 'Blueprint' and (on the CD version only) 'Sunshine At 7' .
Club Of Rome: From the start of the song it is a up-beat synthy Tropical song, perfect for the summer time! The guitars are so utterly joyous and the vocals are just perfect! This has came a long way from the rough demo I heard a few months ago and is progression from their last single 'Skin', but still keeps the fresh sound they have made for themselves. Even the video sees sun, grass and everyone being happy, a summer anthem, I think so! Out of 10: 9/10
Blueprint: This starts off their live performances and I can see why! It builds from a simple start of guitars and builds with a drum and then kicks into life. This is the best advert for the band and got my by the scruff of the neck from the word go. I can really see why the Germans and us Brits go mental for them after seeing them live, this track grabs you and gives you brilliant riffs and hooks! Not to mention the amazing performance the whole band delivers! Out of 10: 9/10
Sunshine At 7: A track written by the lead singer and guitarist of the band (Stef). A quote from the PR says "It captures the feelings of being transported from the quiet countryside of Suffolk to the big pollution of Bristol (where Stef now lives)". The simplicity of the track truly does get your attention as it unfolds before you. This really is a single release with the best B-Sides you can possibly ever hear! Out of 10: 8/10
The Cads, are a 5-piece Tropical, Electro, Indie band from Ipswich in Suffolk. They have supported Darwin Deez on his German tour and have played a whole host of shows throughout 2010 generating a lot of interest in this lovely band!
Rivers: With a lovely gentle guitar draping over one another this song reminds me of Foals, the drum and bass both kick in and your ears are sent to heaven, the chorus kicks and and you can't help but bop your head to the funky grooves they have got going on! Towards the end the pace goes up a notch, and so does the quality of the song, we now have a new band to watch out for! "I'm shoegazing" indeed! Out of 10: 9/10
Lanterns: One of the old tracks I've heard before, and this still gets me in the happy mood with multiple vocals caressing the stunning instruments. A tumbling guitar around the 2:40 mark reminds you of Bloc Party and then they kick it back. The chorus comes back into play and then it stops, Wonderful, seriously! Out of 10: 8/10
Interlude: A cross between rainymood.com and an acoustic version of Friendly Fires, although this is an interlude it's a peaceful song with rain in the background, bass warming your heart and twinkling guitars echoing throughout the song. Out of 10: 8/10
Skin: My faveourite track off the EP, and here it does sound like the best parts of Friendly Fires and Foals. The fast drumming, perfectly placed vocals, tidy guitar strumming, the drumming sounds so effortless but at the same time you wonder how much his arms ache keeping up with the fast tempo of the song, and the bassist does a very good job keeping up and getting those throbbing beats rippling through you throughout the song! Out of 10: 9/10
This Place Is Havoc: Another old song from the vaults, this was one of the very first tracks they wrote, and may I say, one of the best too! I can really see this song being an anthem for Indie-kids, it expresses everything they (The Cads) are about. Brilliant song writing, pitch-perfect singing, stunning guitar play, tight bass and that oh so sweet drumming, or to simplify it... brilliant in every way! Out of 10: 9/10
Selah: One track I've no heard much of so this will be an interesting listen. The Cads have gone all minimal-rock on us! But after hearing it was the brain-child of Tom and Stefan, I can't help but adore this track, the instrumental feel (except for a few rumbles from them during the song), it is once again (as Interlude was) another great track that needs more exposure so people can find out this enchanting band. Out of 10: 8/10
The Cads are from Ipswich and play upbeat Indie music, they formed in September 2009, by October they were Huw Stephens 'Tip of the Week' on BBC Radio One, which in itself cements their future as a band to look out for. Huw Stephens always finds the bands before they are big so watch out! They sound like a cross between Friendly Fires and Foals. The fast drumming like Foals, the tingly guitar like Jimmy from Foals and the rest sounds like they have been sharing ideas with Friendly Fires. Mash it in to a paste and put it all back together and you will find The Cads. Perfectly placed vocals, tidy guitar strumming, the drumming sounds so effortless but at the same time you wonder how much his arms ache keeping up with the fast temp of the song, and the bassist does a very good job keeping up and getting those throbbing beats rippling through you throughout the song!
In 2010 they have been recording new songs, playing lots of shows, and the ones that probably stand out. They played Latitude festival and two months after toured Germany playing sold out shows of up to 550 people, with Darwin Deez. So if you are German and have seen Darwin Deez play you will recognise them! Since then they have been writing and are ready to record their new single which will be out soon.
So keep an eye out for them in 2011, they plan to head back to Germany, play lots more shows in the UK and hope to get into some UK festivals for the summer. [FACEBOOK] [MYSPACE] The Cads - Skin The Cads - Lanterns
