Bastille have released their first set of tracks from their forthcoming début album, a fan winner "Overjoyed" is the A-Side with a new song "Sleepsong" on the flipside.
Overjoyed:
The simplicity of the vocals and the piano catch your attention from the beginning, but then Dan's vocals come in and you're spell-bound! The song builds with synths and bass and the addition of the intricate yet delicate drums make the emotion build inside the listener. When playing this live Dan said "This is a depressing song" - Make of it what you will, but it's one of those up-beat songs to bring you back from the cusp of depression.

Sleepsong:
This song was also labelled as a 'Depressing' song when the band played it live, but this song has a tropical flavour added to it in the form of the drum-pads and the synths. Just like the track before it the song builds and Dan's vocals caress the gentle music to give you something to listen to over and over again. The addition of strings just seals it for me, this is too good to be a B-Side, I just hope it's on their album!
