After a while listening to their demos and acoustic songs, it's great to hear Rova develop their live performances and put them onto recording, they're amazing live and are one of those bands that you just have to see live. Here is their début EP up getting reviewed by us too. Here is what we made of it!
Strings:
It's really refreshing to hear a song like this, fresh and strong vocals with the light guitar tones playing away in the background make this track a calming track to unwind to after a long days work. We've already been playing the track on loop as it's so stunning to listen to, Rova can easily be one of the next big bands to break out, based on this track alone I think it's highly likely.
Out of 10: 9/10
Mama Save Me:
This one is also a lovely 5 minute epic with great choruses, guitar tones to calm you down and lyrics to really sing your heart out to. The band love to make long songs, and this one being the centre-piece of the EP they've made it a stunning one at that! It reminds me of what would happen when Foals met Radiohead, the high guitar tones with the experimental Rock, they're going to win lots of fans over down to this song for sure!
Out of 10: 9/10
Measured Motion:
This was the song I really hoped would be recorded some day, and thankfully the band thought the same too. When I saw them live this was the set-closer, and for a good reason too! This is the song I want everyone to know them by, a lovely slow song that just shows the listener what the band's capability is. This honestly goes down as one of my tracks of the year, the way the track builds up to the flourish at the end is just amazing! Rova, I hope you stay together for a long time to come, this song is just beautiful!
Out of 10: 10/10
This is a real find! An un-signged band that's this good won't stay un-signed for long, I loved every track in the EP and everything the band has to offer. They've made one of my favourite tracks of the year with 'Measured Motion' and I hope they can continue making great music for years to come!
