Gig Review... Peace @ The Portland Arms, Cambridge, 22nd November 2012

After seeing Peace play in Gloucester back in September I couldn't pass up on them playing one of my local venues. Peace arrived with Wolf Alice in tow - a lovely band from the East end of London (more of them soon) - and a massive stage presence too. You could easily see Harrison loving being up on stage by agitating the crowd into mass sing-a-longs and moshing.

They opened up with a jam that lead into the EP opener 'Oceans Eyes', the crowd sang their hearts out to this, and suddenly you could see the happy gig goers finally go mental with some crazy dancing! A big highlight for me was them playing 'Bloodshake', the oldest song they've got and they clearly proved that their signature song gets the crowd going!

But not as much as their cover of Binary Finary's trance classic - '1998'. The song builds up and then explodes into an orgry of guitar wash. However, tonight it was greeted with a fucking circle pit and a crazy moshing! Bear in mind this is in a pub venue and that people actually had to act as barriers to stop the crazy hipster fans from falling into the speakers and monitors.

All in all this was by far the most exciting gig I've attended in the whole year, and Peace are going to give their bigger counterparts such as Foals a run for their money. If you go along to one of their gigs, be sure to party hard with them after!

Fuck yes Peace! "GOTTA LIVE FOREVER BABY!"
