[LISTEN] Al Pride - Leaf

Al Pride are collective of Men and a Woman from Switzerland (NOT SWEDEN), who certainly step up the game from their other two albums. "Hallavara" is the 3rd record and "Leaf" is their first single off their highly anticipated album which they recorded in Sweden

The Video is all about dark, all grey, black & white, but if you take an earful of it's music it's rather something you listen on a festival when you're half naked in summer, super drunk and you think about pissing into your bottle, because there is no way out of the crowd.

A more like bouncy-new-soul sounding drumkit is always working with nice crunchy, well draw barred-fit Hammond. My favourite parts are definitely ... The keys. The best song so far by Al Pride. Not sure if it was an overdubbing or not but the keys are monstrous. Not sure why they kept and hid major talents there... Big up and I hope this record is rather a key-record than something else. Have fun watching the video, i leaf it right here:

BREAKING: New Wolfmother Album "Victorious" to be released in 2016, listen to first selftitled single

Christmas came very early, to be excact, 35 days earlier this year. With the greatest banger in the past year. "Victorious" is about what Wolfmother alsways has been. It's final version sounds from Led Zeppelin to Kadavar over to keen simplicity.

[ALBUM REVIEW] New Polarities - Narcissus

My old Music teacher has been young ever since I got in touch with him. For me he still sounds the same, looks the same, I simply can call him by his name Roger now. BUT my horisont about his musical empire has changed with his newest band NEW POLARITIES. I received a beautiful 10" of their new EP and Side A is massively sounding like U2 in their peaktimes let's say late 80's. We also hear some nice late Pink Floyd Influences. I much enjoy their title track. It could be right out of Gilmour's handwriting. It's great 80's Pop with a touch of slight-psychadelia-harmonies.

Side B consists of Rogers phenomenal vocals and Piano-skillz. Listen to "UFO" and you got to dance with moody jazz-anthems and sometimes on the right side, beautiful slightly-distorted guitars. It's a record to make love to. It's sounding rather like a live-version album than a studio album but that's ok. Who wouldn't like to have a live band in their own room while making what ever comes to your mind. I guess I must say I'm really proud he was my teacher for a short period of time and Talk Talk, TheEdge, David, Klaus Dinger would be proud too. Thanks for an amazing individual record. I'm not only enjoying it very much but also singing along already... Good sign baby!

[LISTEN] ONE SENTENCE. SUPERVISOR - Hikikomori TM

The first few seconds - you can't even catch breath, you instantly stand up and start to move your feet. Trying to look sexy as this one girl in this 80's movie. You know. Moving in skinny Yogapants with somewhat of AdidasSneakers right out of an early 80's Movie called "Flashdance". If I was you, dear reader, I'd suggest you to buy cowbells and interpret your own beat with it. Or simply play them legendary "Maniac Maaaaaniac" cowbells. And you will feel happy. OSS went (another unsurprisingly time) absolutely right through sky. I've seen/heard this song live and it's tremendously strong. Not sure what I'm loving more: The liveintensity and feedbacks OR, the studioversion built like an 80's Michael Jackson Riff and some smooth progressive Tambourine. (KILLER.)

And they even had the balls to sing in their own language. So if you listen to the end and you feel like "holy-fuck-what-is-this-am-I-getting-crazy-I-should-drink-less-herbal-tea-from-this-weird-guy" - then my, dear reader, it's time to understand, that there is more than renominated Up-To-The-Sky-80's significant revival bands who've been pushed the past few years. OSS are stomping. Stomping to stop bands with narrow-minded studioversions of their banger tracks whose interprets playing live. Remember "Dig!" when a guy told you that the TBJTM had created their own world? Finally 20 Years later bands trying this more and more over and over again to create one... Luckely some tracks and themes are igniting their world now into a shining sun.

Wanna glow like her too? Have a listen and dance brother. DANCE!

New Swiss Festival w/ Danish Headliner "GO GO BERLIN"

About two years I came across and had the honor to watch a band at a festival about three (!!!) times. They played a radio show, showcase outside somewhere on the Reeperbahnfestival and an A-Class Clubshow at Indra, where the beatles had their first concert outside of the UK in Hamburg.

Now I've been following these guys eversince and they are rising fast. Not only headlining my once-hometown's finest "Openair Wettingen" but also they've played Maifeld Derby in front of several thousand people. All of them are just about 24-25 years old and after maybe 200-300 concerts they are still looking good. I had a chat with leadsinger and baller Christian Vium about announcing the first headline Festival show in switzerland, perhaps, ever outside of their country? Have a read:

Go Go Berlin in Aargovia. once again. Any last memories of the past night in Royal Cinema Baden?
  • Yeah, is that the concert with the tall wall, right next to the stage, i climbed up on? I love when stages looks different - gives you an opportunity to change your show every time! But yeah, we were quite hung over (we have a say that Switzerland ALWAYS get's GGB drunk!!!), but that's good for us, helps up relax a bit more.. we often play better then.
You will be headlining the great young festival Openair Wettingen. It's possibly as young as you guys are. But recently there are new young guys running it. Searching for thruthful entertaining bands. What are you going to do if it's a rainy day and you took your white panties on and everywhere is mud and such?
  • "Searching for truthful entertaining bands" ... sounds like they got the right band then!! haha. Like i said, i love different settings, different crowds... We always try to get the best of the situations! And we fucking love the "headlining" status.. it builds up the expectations, and steps up our game!
You will be hosted at the hotel which was named after the guy who wrote the swiss national anthem poem right beside the stage. What is your story with the danish poem, tell us. Cause (du du du du du du du doo...) I wonder . . .
  • With the danish national anthem? Hm, actually we have two.. and the second one is about an old king called KING CHRISTIAN!!! Maybe they'll sing about me too one day.
Your album shall be released this year. Any specific ultra-because it's me- teasing sentence you can spit out to the festival guys?
  • Hmm... it's awesome and i am proud of it?! It's quite in style with the single "Electric Lives" and we've already started playing a handfull of the songs live. So people.. get ready!
Best Festival Band you've ever seen.
  • hmm... I saw Kings Of Leon last year.. they're not the best entertainers, but it's the best sound I've ever heard live... like...ever! ..and it was even at a festival! And MAN, do they have the songs!!

NEW ALBUM: The great surprising selftitled album "Valtter Vin"

It was long ago when I met Valtteri Väänänen which worked as a tour-mixengineer for the finnish French Films and he thought me few things about engineering and I never knew he was making music by his own. Then few months ago he came up with a Pop sensation called "Päiväuni". It's something like the early "Jump in the pool" heroes Friendly Fires and the late Neo-80's Indie Songs. it's all in finnish and I don't understgand no shit but clearly: I'm getting the feelings and the voice is something you will dream about. It's estethic not so Lo-Fi dreampop and contains summer feelings till you die. Vogue and SoKo would be proud of this guy.

Violent Femmes unveil "Love Love Love Love Love" their first new song in 15 years

Although we haven't heard much from them since their album Freak Magnet was released in 2000, Violent Femmes has remained a favorite of alt-rockers everywhere. This is why the upcoming release of "Happy New Year" - an EP of brand-spanking-new Violent Femmes songs - is really, really exciting.

Recorded in Tasmania, the 4-track record will be pressed on "champagne clear vinyl" and will be released this year on April 18 - which is of course, Record Store Day.

Recently the band unveiled the first single from the album entitled, "Love Love Love Love Love" and it is a testament to singer Gordon Gano's timeless (and ever youthful) vocals.

The band split in 2009 - but reunited in 2013, performing at Coachella. That year also saw the replacement of original Femmes drummer Victor DeLorenzo by Brian Viglione from Dresden Dolls.

Gano and the Femmes have plans to record more new material this spring.

This June they're set to join  Barenaked Ladies and Colin Hay on the “Last Summer on Earth” tour.

Watch Modest Mouse perform Lampshades on Fire, lead single off upcoming Strangers to Ourselves

As we recently reported, Modest Mouse has confirmed the upcoming release of Strangers to Ourselves, their first full-length album since 2007.

Strangers is set to drop March 3. The lead single, Lampshades on Fire, will make its radio debut Monday, although it has been part of the band's setlist since performing at Sasquatch! Music Festival in 2011. You can watch that performance via YouTube below.

Following recent trends, Modest Mouse opted to forego announcing the album by traditional means. Instead, the info was sent to a few lucky fans along with a 45 rpm of Lampshades on Fire.

The note that was sent with the package read:
"We want you to have this limited test pressing of our new single 'Lampshades On Fire.' The song will be available for purchase tomorrow, Tuesday, December 16. 'Lampshades on Fire' is the first single from our new album Strangers to Ourselves, which will be released on Tuesday, March 3, 2015."
Not much else is known about Strangers except that both OutKast's Big Boi and Nirvana's Krist Novoselic were involved, though it's unclear whether those collaborations will make it on the record. Other new songs added to Modest Mouse's live repertoire include; "Ansel," "Shit In Your Cut," "Sugar Boats" and "Be Brave"

Radiohead currently in-studio working on album, drummer Philip Selway releases new video

There have been mutterings regarding Radiohead recording what would be their ninth studio album before the end of the year. Previously guitarist Jonny Greenwood announced they had intended to start recording in September. On Tuesday, during an interview with BBC Radio Oxford, Greenwood confirmed that although he was late, Radiohead is indeed in-studio.

The album will be the follow-up to 2011's The King of Limbs. The bands three-year hiatus has allowed several members to pursue solo projects. As we previously reported, Greenwood recently scored the new Paul Thomas Anderson film Inherent Vice.

Both Thom Yorke and drummer Philip Selway have recently released their sophomore solo albums, Yorke's "Tomorrow's Modern Boxes" has received positive reviews, and Selway just premièred a new video for his song, "Around Again"  - one of the highlights from his album "Weatherhouse," You can watch Selway's new video here, via YouTube.

Damon Albarn open to making an album with Noel Gallagher

They were once at each others throats during the infamous Oasis vs Blur Britpop rivalry back in the 90's.

But with over twenty years having now passed, it appears that Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn's relationship has taken a complete U-Turn, and it's leading them straight into the studio - together.

This week, Damon revealed that making an album with the former Oasis man is a ''distinct possibility'' and that it wouldn't be ruled out. He claims that the pair have spoke about making music together at least once and at some point in the future, it's likely to happen.

Damon and Noel have spoke about making an album
Last year the pair appeared to bury their two decade hatchet when they performed together at a Teenage Cancer Trust gig at London's Royal Albert Hall.

Speaking exclusively to NME, the Blur frontman said: "I still see Noel from time to time. We text a bit," Albarn says. When asked if the pair would be making a record together, he replied, "I can imagine that being a very distinct possibility at some point in the future. But, as yet we haven't really talked about it…"

Damon continued: "OK we have a little bit. We're talking. It's not anything to get excited about yet. I mean, he's doing his thing. He's finishing a new record. I've got my record coming out, but the principle of us making music together is something…you know, it would be fair to say, we have discussed it at least once."

Damon Albarn will release his debut solo album 'Everyday Robots' on April 28th and Noel is said to be currently working on a follow-up to 2011's, 'Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds'.

Meet Carl Barât's New Band: The Jackals

Despite announcing on his official Facebook page that the news would come out Friday, today the NME announced the name of Carl Barât’s new band and details of their live debut.

After posting an open call for band members on his official Facebook page and receiving over a thousand applications, Carl Barât has now finalized the line-up for his new band, The Jackals. Members consist of Billy Tessio on guitar, Adam Claxton on bass, and Jay Bone on drums.

Their live debut will be 15 May at XOYO in London, with support from Lois & the Love and Trampolene. Tickets go on sale at 9 am GMT on Friday, 11 April.

Despite already finishing recording his second solo album with Joby Ford, Barât ultimately decided that he was happier playing in a band and took to social media to recruit members. Also, he decided to hold off on releasing the album and plans to rerecord it with his new band for a September release. The working title was "Let It Reign" but it remains to be seen if it will change since it's no longer a solo album.
