[LISTEN] Promise Keeper - Side Decide

Promise Keeper has released his second single, Side Decide.

London-based electro-pop artist, Promise Keeper, has put out a song that is his second piece of work and promises a funk-infused, hip-hop inspired beat driven by chilled out soul vibes - a perfect combination for the seasons ahead.

Though everything still seems pretty secretive, we're certain that this is going to be something that blows up heavily in the coming months. Take a listen to the single below and gear up for a new favourite.

[LISTEN] Zak Abel - Everybody Needs Love

We loved Zak's track "Running From Myself" and his latest cut is just as catchy. "Everybody Needs Love" is the perfect blend of R&B, Soul and Funk, it really does sound like Pharrell Williams wrote this song, it's got festivals written all over it. With some great chanting in the chorus "everybody needs love love love love",  the track plays with your ears as even some strings are introduced.

Zak is really on the ball with this one, a cross genre epic!

[LISTEN] Courts - Wanna Be High

Basildon beat-makers, Courts, are stretching boundaries and pushing summer past this dreary Bank Holiday weekend with new track, ‘Wanna Be High’.

It’s only the quintet’s third track and follows on from the infectiously upbeat ‘Part Of’ and the woozy ‘Santana’. Much like the latter, ‘Wanna Be High’ oozes with confident nonchalance and lip-smacking vocals like “I’m on a slave ship from the twenty-first century, I’m twenty four and I’m still running entry” are brushed off casually.

It’s three minutes in though when Courts really show us what they can do with funk-fuelled guitar riffs that swagger past any chip on their shoulders. It’s a song for the nine-to-five people who are constantly under the clutches of bullshit bosses and surrounded by snakes, a song for the not so Great British public.

You can catch the band in September at Notting Hill Arts Club on the 6th and at Bestival on the 13th and listen to the new track below:

[WATCH] Foals - Daffodils (Mark Ronson & Kevin Parker Cover)

Foals have popped into Triple J today for a session, where they played an alternative version of "Mountain At My Gates" and this even funkier cover of Mark Ronson's "Daffodils" with Yannis taking on Kevin Parkers vocal duties. Note that the band is now a fourpiece, with Jack Bevan absent the band used a vintage drum machine that they used on their brand new album.

"What Went Down" is out in September via Transgressive.

Don Broco reveal new funkier sound with "Automatic"

Don Broco last night (10/05) revealed their brand new track, "Automatic", the title also for their new LP, and from the off you can hear a real shift in their sound. They've gone from their punky roots to something that I'd compare to Red Hot Chilli Pepeprs, and as it's the title track of their second album I'd expect them to get even bigger off the back of it! They're headlining Brixton Academy, surely it'll be Knebworth next!

i-D is one of those Soundcloud pages that seems to première loads of new music, mainly getting relatively unknown bands out in-front of loads of listeners. This new cut from Strange Names wouldn't seem out of place in a Back To The Future movie, with very distinctive 80's throwback funk guitars and drapes of keys they're sounding strong!

Tame Impala's Kevin Parker joins forces with Mark Ronson on new track 'Daffodils'

Combining Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker's eery falsetto vocals with producer Mark Ronson's retro funky stylings, 'Daffodils' is the second track to be premiered to the public from his new album 'Uptown Funk'. Aired on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 slot, the track evolves in layers with a laid-back funk groove before reaching a state of futuristic synthesiser chaos.

The first track Ronson put out to the public was the album-titled 'Uptown Funk' that featured Bruno Mars and has already been hailed as one of the highlights of the 2014 popular music world. The album will feature other collaborations including Hudson Mohawke and Miike Snow's Andrew Wyatt.
