Blur unveil official video for 'I Broadcast'

Blur are at it again with yet another entertaining new video for 'I Broadcast.' Using fan-made video footage as the main theme, Blur have included variety and uniqueness within the short clip. There are numerous Blur fans, old and young alike showing their love for the band, aswell as their enthusiasm for the track. The video clips were originally premiered as the background footage for the track at their Hyde Park gig back in June and are now being used for the official video.

'I Broadcast' is taken from their new album 'The Mgaic Whip' which is available on CD, vinyl and as a digital download.

2015 Six Month Review; Who's Rocked and Who's Flopped?

It's June. The time of year where you whip out your shorts, shades and suncream only to return from your first outdoor ventures covered in mud, but with a bucket load of live music memories. It's not just festival season which makes the start of June so important, it's also a landmark of which new acts have excited you over the past few months, and an indication of what's to come from the remaining six months.

Here's a nice little round-up of this year's surprise packages and other er, rather unfulfilling ones.

Six Triumphant Returns

Blur - Albarn and co. returned in April with a new album, 'The Magic Whip'. Further announcements of another, yes another Hyde Park show (that's three in six years boys), whipped up a frenzy, and the band didn't disappoint, headlining British Summer Time just yesterday.

Fleetwood Mac - They were the band every punter was forcing onto Michael Eavis' lips but Fleetwood Mac pledged their allegiance to the Isle Of Wight festival, with a long tour of the UK and down-under to come.

Kendrick Lamar - None have been viewed quite as pretentious as Kendrick but following the early release of his new album 'To Pimp A Butterfly' heads havebegun the turn. He's all over the live circuit and a few have already tipped him as Kanye's successor. Watch that throne Kanye.

Florence and The Machine - Another modernday comeback, none would've predicated how big this four year wait would be. A critically acclaimed third album under her belt, Florence Welch is now headlining Glastonbury after Dave Grohl's broken leg ruled out the Foos.

Sleater-Kinney - You'd be mistaken for thinkingthey've just started up, fresh off the blocks with a sound not dissimilar to Haim. However, their album, 'No Cities To Love', is in fact their seventh studio album after a hiatus in 2006! Boy, we're glad they're back.

Justin Bieber - Hear us out on this one. Pre-2015 Bieber's life has set out to be a beautiful car crash. Come the turn of the year, something unimaginable happened. Diplo and Skrillex got into a studio, okay strange enough, but they invited Bieber with them. The result; the biggest floor-filler of the year. 'Where R U Now' is an instant classic, of sorts...

Six Bright New Things

Rat Boy - Essex boy Jordan Cardy must be pinching himself right now. Just six months ago you could've uttered 'rat boy' and someone might think you're plotting a shit superhero movie. Alas, Cardy is the real saviour, bringing back those raucous Jamie T vibes. Angst, angst everywhere.

Jamie XX - Who's not a fan of what the XX have done? Furthermore, who's not a fan of Jamie XX's solo turn and the release of his debut album 'In Colour'? It's a carefully crafted product of what's turning out to be one of the most important figures in music right now.

Courtney Barnett - There was always the worry Barnett's Aussie twangs could verge towards the Kylie and Jason spectrum of music from down-under. After the disappointment of this not being true had faded we were left with one of the most ballsy albums of the year with whimsical lyrics galore.

Real Lies -  Remember 1990? Nah, neither do I, but with the help from this trio I can just about imagine what it was all about. They're a cut between The Petshop Boys and New Order but everything they've produced is dedicated to ordinary folk dancing in Reebok classics. Watch out for an album soon.

LA Priest - Ex-Late of The Pier Sam Dust's opening few e-number induced statements are tracks full of funk and meaningless fun. With 'Oino' and 'Learning To Love', Dust has created two of 2015's most infectious songs and debut album, 'Inji', out at the end of June, is set to be rammed full of goodies.

Palace - If you haven't started your Sunday morning with these smooth talking chaps yet then you're doing it all wrong. The quartet released their 'Chase The Light' EP recently and it's a delicious cleanse for your eardrums, especially after listening to the collective above.

Six Top of the Flops

Foo Fighters - Dave, oh Dave, where did it all go so wrong? After literally flopping off the stage, Foo Fighters had to cancel gigs left, right and centre after Grohl broke his leg. Fair play to the man, it can't have been easy, but fans would've succumbed to a sit down version of 'All My Life'. If Jessie J can do it surely Dave can?

Peace's Return - After the success of 'In Love' and the huge pre-released singles such as 'World Pleasure' and 'Money', the B-Town boys' second album 'Happy People' left us, well, a bit disappointed. The other tracks didn't quite reach the levels of the singles and the extended edition proved far more fruitful.

The 1975 Prank - Judging by frontman Matty's not always positive-attitude it was surprising The 1975 were able to get away with such a 'hilarious' stunt. Nevertheless it worked for them, but not for us. They said they wanted to play 'intimate venues' again before announcing a tour of academies over the country. How modest.

 The Wombats - It's hard to know what will happen to The Wombats next. After a disappointing third album, it seems what worked in 2008 won't work anymore. At least they can serve their fans live, but with the Liverpool band really want to be chanting "kill the director" for years to come?

The Prodigy - It's a similar case scenario for the old time ravers too. 'The Day Is My Enemy' had the potential for something colossal but it's a shallow dive from 'Invaders Must Die' with track 'Ibiza' featuring Sleaford Mods proving particularly toxic.

Palma Violets - It's hard to move forward when you just don't give a toss what others have to say. Hats off to Palma Violets they've stuck to what they do best, but mellowed it... Judging by second album 'Danger In The Club', which was deemed "different" from their debut, there seems to be more danger in their song writing than a club right now.

Here's to the next six months where all eyes will be on festivals, flops and an interesting Kanye performance just around the corner...

Blur unveil "Ong Ong" video

Blur seem to be heavily influenced by the Japanese in their latest campaign for "The Magic Whip", and their video for "Ong Ong" definitely shows us that! Their video below is half video game, and half reality as the band make cameos throughout the video.

Watch Blur perform "Tender" with Jimmy Fallon

Blur are in the USA and are doing a right old promotion of their new album, but the old favourites still creep on out when performing, as you can see from this green-room session WITH Jimmy Fallon. It's just brilliant to see them all enjoying themselves here, and reminds us of the magic that the band does when they perform. I can't help but smile when watching this! 

Blur announce 3 date UK mini-tour

Blur of all bands have announced a mini-tour, and the venues aren't going to be as massive as you think they're going to be! A band that can easily sell out the 02 Arena, Hyde Park plus multiple huge venues in Europe and the US they've announced shows at Glasgow's Barrowlands, Blackpool's gorgeous Empress Ballroom and the Llandudno Cymru Arena.

The shows will act as a warm-up for their headline slot at the Isle of Wight Festival which is also in June.

Blur are not to headline Glastonbury

Speaking to XFM today, Dave Rowntree (Drums) has confirmed that Blur will not be headlining Glastonbury this year, and has also said that the Eavis family always like to think outside the box and be a bit leftfield when booking bands. Which would explain Jay-Z performing a few years back and Kanye West's appearance this year.

Blur reveal new song "Lonesome Street"

Blur have today revealed yet another new track, this time "Lonesome Street". It's a track that shows that Blur are back to their best, a song that sounds like the sister of their anthem "Parklife", a real return to form!

Blur are set to headline a BST gig in London’s Hyde Park on 20th June with Metronomy, Drenge and The Horrors as main supports. Their new album "The Magic Whip" is out April 27th.

Blur unveil new track "There Are Too Many of Us"

Brit-Pop legends Blur have today revealed a brand new track "There Are Too Many of Us", the new cut from their forthcoming album "The Magic Whip" comes on the same day as their secret show which will see them perform their new album in it's entirety.

For those that won't be able to make it, the show will also be available as a one time only via an online stream - 'Beats presents - The Magic Whip Live' - available at 7pm GMT on Wedensday 25th March exclusively at youtube.com/beatsbydre.

Jamie T covers Blur's "Out Of Time"

Jamie T popped into BBC Radio 2  yesterday (9/2) and performed a cover of Blur's track "Out of Time", the original is on the Essex band's 2003 album "Think Tank".

Jamie will also be playing the BBC's 6 Music Festival later on this year.

Damon Albarn promises Gorillaz and The Good, The Bad & the Queen material

In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, Damon told the interviewer that he is currently writing a West End theatre musical adaptation of a children's book, and is in the process of reactivating Gorillaz for a 2016 release. As well as trying to find time to record a new The Good, the Bad & The Queen album, which he says is fully written.

Talking about Blur he said - "I would imagine there’s some kind of future, but at the moment there’s no time for the future – only the present. Who knows? I’m reluctant to say anything, because if I do, it just gets taken out of context and then I’m accused of being a wind-up"

Damon Albarn is known for playing some slower Blur and Gorillaz songs from time to time when he's doing his solo sets, but this time round he has played one of Blur's (in my opinion) best tracks, the two minute 90's anthem "Song 2".

Damon Albarn open to making an album with Noel Gallagher

They were once at each others throats during the infamous Oasis vs Blur Britpop rivalry back in the 90's.

But with over twenty years having now passed, it appears that Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn's relationship has taken a complete U-Turn, and it's leading them straight into the studio - together.

This week, Damon revealed that making an album with the former Oasis man is a ''distinct possibility'' and that it wouldn't be ruled out. He claims that the pair have spoke about making music together at least once and at some point in the future, it's likely to happen.

Damon and Noel have spoke about making an album

Last year the pair appeared to bury their two decade hatchet when they performed together at a Teenage Cancer Trust gig at London's Royal Albert Hall.

Speaking exclusively to NME, the Blur frontman said: "I still see Noel from time to time. We text a bit," Albarn says. When asked if the pair would be making a record together, he replied, "I can imagine that being a very distinct possibility at some point in the future. But, as yet we haven't really talked about it…"

Damon continued: "OK we have a little bit. We're talking. It's not anything to get excited about yet. I mean, he's doing his thing. He's finishing a new record. I've got my record coming out, but the principle of us making music together is something…you know, it would be fair to say, we have discussed it at least once."

Damon Albarn will release his debut solo album 'Everyday Robots' on April 28th and Noel is said to be currently working on a follow-up to 2011's, 'Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds'.

Good news Blur fans! Damon Albarn told NME that they recorded 15 songs. The bad news: There's no album coming any time soon. "Just because you record 15 ideas doesn't mean that you've got an album," he said.

Having secured a headline slot at Latitude Festival in Suffolk for later on this year, and he has unveiled a new track called  "Heavy Seas Of Love" as a little teaser for his upcoming album.

Damon Albarn to Headline Latitude 2014 and Release's New Single (Listen)

Blur frontman, Damon Albarn has been confirmed as Latitude's second headliner and to coincide with the announcement, has shared his first official solo single, 'Everyday Robots'- a track taken from his forthcoming debut solo album of the same name. (Listen and watch the video for the single below)

The news, that was announced via the Suffolk festival's Facebook page earlier this evening, comes a mere day after Albarn himself confirmed the release date and track listing of his first solo effort and means that his alleged 'only UK festival date', will take place on the Saturday night of the festival, whilst Two Door Cinema Club are already in place to bring proceedings to a close on one of the other remaining nights. 

Album Cover For Damon Albarn's First Solo Album

The album, which is scheduled to hit selves on April 28th, will feature collaborations with 'Bat For Lashes' singer, Natasha Khan and ambient music innovator, Brian Eno. Commenting on the albums producer, which is set to be XL records boss Richard Russell, Albarn said: "Richard does the rhythmic side and I do everything else - it's sort of folk soul." Praising the music mogul further, he goes onto add: "We worked together on the Bobby Womack record, and really enjoy working together. He's done spectacularly well as a music mogul, but I think he wants to focus his energy on producing records. Making a solo record can be such a disaster, so I thought if we're going to make a record with my name on it, I should get someone to really produce it – take that responsibility away from myself."

Latitude festival will take place in July from Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th and acts such as Haim, Billy Bragg and Anna Calvi are already confirmed.

Damon Albarn announces new Africa Express album

Damon Albarn (Blur) has announced that he will be releasing a new 'Africa Express' album. It's been on and off since 2006 and it brings together collaborators from the UK and Africa.

Some people that are rumoured to be taking part are members of Django Django, however nothing has been confirmed yet. But a new release is due before the end of the year. "Africa Express Presents: Maison Des Jeunes" is set to gain release digitally on 9th December, with a physical release due out the following year.

Damon Albarn wants Hyde Park show to be Blur's last

In an interview with The Guardian, the front-man, who is currently promoting his début solo album and opera project, 'Dr. Dee', told them that it would be the end to Blur he would have hoped for.



Meanwhile, while Albarn might have some more free time available after Blur's Hyde Park gig, it is unlikely that he'll devote his attention to Gorillaz after he revealed he and co-creator James Hewlett had a serious creative disagreement during the making, and subsequent tour, of 'Plastic Beach'.

When asked if he and Hewlett had fallen out, Albarn said: "That sounds very juvenile, doesn't it? But being juvenile about it, it happens. It's a shame."
