Time For T debut "Rescue Plane" [IAI PREMIERE]

Brand new video from our favourite Brighton 'tropical world-alternative folk' band Time For T. Although with new song 'Rescue Plane' we see a slightly heavier, raw side to them but then with a nod in the outro to their sun shimmering sound. The song talks about yearning and long distant relationships.

Frontman Tiago Saga is known to break into a Ian Curtis style frenzy when performing this song shouting, "now they're at war with their distance" then breaking the seriousness with the cheeky line "rescue planes crash too, then you need a rescue plane for the rescue plane rescue".

Time For T love performing live and gathering an army of fans everywhere they go. Last year against the will of their friends and families, they played in Beirut a week after the attacks to a highly appreciative audience. They are back on the road this summer with a widely extensive tour around the UK and Europe. 'Rescue Plane' is out today and available to purchase digitally everywhere.

[LISTEN] Zak Abel - Everybody Needs Love

We loved Zak's track "Running From Myself" and his latest cut is just as catchy. "Everybody Needs Love" is the perfect blend of R&B, Soul and Funk, it really does sound like Pharrell Williams wrote this song, it's got festivals written all over it. With some great chanting in the chorus "everybody needs love love love love",  the track plays with your ears as even some strings are introduced.

Zak is really on the ball with this one, a cross genre epic!

[LISTEN] The 1975 - The Sound

The 1975 have revealed their catchy pop-infused single 'The Sound' and it is absolutely incredible. Following the release of 'Love Me' and 'UGH!', the Manchester band continue to use the theme of 80's pop to highlight their developed sound which will form part of their sophomore album 'I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It' , which is due for its anticipated release next month. 'The Sound' is armed with an unforgettable chorus which will stay on repeat in your head for days on end, enabling it to be the perfect sing-along song. Brimming with a continuous beat and a combination of excellent instrumentation (especially the keys), this track most definitely emits an energetic vibe that one must dance along to.

The 1975's sophomore album is due for release on 26th February via Dirty Hit records and 'The Sound' will be available to listen from midnight tonight. The band will be touring extensively this year worldwide and will be touring the UK in March. Meanwhile, you can listen to 'The Sound' being premiered on the Annie Mac show below.

[LISTEN] The 1975 - UGH!

The 1975 have revealed the second track from the follow-up to their critically acclaimed self-titled début album. "UGH!" is the latest track to be revealed from "I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It", and while speaking to Zane Lowe yesterday Matt said "[The track has] something that goes back to the early foundation of how we write music as The 1975" - and to be honest if you've ever heard their old demos you can see where he's coming from.

[TONIGHT] Phantom Runners play in LONDON

 

 

Brighton new wave pop 4 piece, currently on a 12 date tour which included a sell-out home town gig in Brighton (Hope & Ruin) Bristol (The Louisiana),  Bournemouth (60 Million Postcards) and London TONIGHT upstairs at The Garage (Islington).

 

Consisting of frontman Adam Al-Hilali (lead vocalist and guitarist), Olivia Pearce (vocalist), Robbie Blyghton (synth player and bassist) and Sam Slattery (beat maker). You can expect an electronic based sound drenched in eighties nostalgia with lots of bass. Notable influences include Blood Orange, Caribou, Years & Years as well as Modern English.

Phantom Runners are currently working with Mark Ralph (Years & Years, Hot Chip) on the production of their new tracks.

The fast rising Danish musician MØ has revealed her video for "Kamikaze", her first track since the mega-hit she featured on with DJ Snake and Major Lazer. The video sticks to the same sort of lines as all of her others, you don't want to miss a second of it!

[WATCH] Petite Meller's new video 'Barbaric'

Petite Meller, whose euphoria inducing debut single “Baby Love” introduced her as one of the most fascinating, colourful and truly original artists to emerge in pop music in recent years, has her brand new single “Barbaric” released on November 6th.  The song received its first play last night on BBC Radio One as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record In The World.

Petite Meller tells us that 'Barbaric is about the wish to be uncivilised, to un-supersede your wild desires. We are all Barbaric, don't try make us normal.

Petite Meller’s new single explodes with an uninhibited, joyful exuberance; infectious with dizzy drum beats and a 70s jazz vibe.  Meller grew up between Paris and Tel Aviv, but for the past year has called London home, while working on the songs that make up her debut album.

 

 

Florence + The Machine shares video for "Delilah"

So far, every video for Florence + The Machine's tracks that features on her latest LP "How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful" have been amazing, and Florence and Co have revealed another flick, this time for "Delilah"

Vincent Haycock-directed visuals for "Delilah" and he made it very hard to look away from it for even a moment, as it's just so captivating! Watch it below.

Florence + The Machine cover "Where Are Ü Now?" for BBC Radio 1

Florence + The Machine have dropped on into BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge to perform a cover of Diplo and Skrillex (aka Jack Ü)'s "Where Are Ü Now" (which features Justin Bieber on vocals). Lets be honest on this one, Florence has really turned it on its head and has polished a turd (imo).

[GIG REVIEW] Alvvays @ Concord 2, Brighton, 7th September 2015

Singer Molly Rankin pauses between songs and similes as she addresses the crowd; “Brighton is our favourite city in England ...it's where we played our first UK show...it's where we made our best friends”. A cheer makes its way through the packed venue. The Indie-Pop five-piece certainly seem to have a whole lot of the latter, and based on their performance it's easy to see why. Soaring melodies, rich textures and blisteringly tight musicianship are all woven into deceptively simplistic and subtle arrangements. The songs are beautiful and Alvvays were effortlessly brilliant in their delivery.

The band formed in 2012 as an extension of Rankin's solo efforts. Working alongside producers John Agnello, fellow Canadian Chad VanGaalen and Holy Fuck's Graham Walsh, they released their lavishly dreamy self titled début record last year. It was met with critical acclaim, described by Simon Vozick-Levinson in Rolling Stone as an "Indie-Pop wonder", reaching #1 on the US College Charts and winning a nomination for the 2015 Polaris Music Prize. Traveling via 90's DIY-Indie (Rankin cites Pavement, The Cranberries and Teenage Fanclub as major influences – tonight they even play a well worked cover of Kristy MacColl’s 1998 hit ‘He’s On The Beach'), the albums production manages to sit between lo-fi and lavish. Garage-Rock turned sugar sweet.

This is undeniably engrained into the bands overall sound, so I was hesitant as to how it would translate into a live performance. However, upon upbeat opener ‘Next of Kin’, it was easy to hear the band clearly had no problem in making it all work. The albums charm remained and grew; it soon became apparent that this was a live band that had translated well onto record, not the other way round. Rankin's voice swelling with an angelic tranquillity that lifted to impressive heights when called upon, yet retaining a consistent element of fun that is as equally suited to high ceilings as small sweaty clubs. Enchanting instrumentation that constantly built but never reached overkill; every chord, beat and note sounded like it had been meticulously picked for an effective reason.

Another dynamic shone just as bright: how much each band member was enjoying themselves. These guys have been friends since high school, they are riding a wave and having a great time - it came across in every upbeat riff and harmony. As a result, much like the record, Concord 2 bounced and swayed to an overall dance-ability that for the most part also managed remain sweetly delicate; in-between flurries of movement on stage, Alvvays were as cool their sound. From the carefree summer-pop jangle of 'Adult-Diversion' to heartfelt indie hit 'Archie Marry Me', the show was earnest, playful and spectacular - soaring yet somehow modest. I would dare anyone to watch and not wear a smile.

Bestival 2015: The festival's must see acts

Summer is reaching it's demise, school, college or University beckon for many, and the greatest season of them all - Festival Season - is coming to an end.

But fortunately - for the lucky few who have decided to make the lengthy treck to the Isle of Wight - there is still one major festival left to enjoy.

So, if you are heading to Bestival 2015 this weekend, here are It's All Indie's Top 5 must see acts.

1. Sleaford Mods: The Big Top, Saturday, 9pm

Although the anti-establishment growl of their twitchy mouth-piece has, at times, racked-up more column-inches over the last year than their musical output, Nottingham-duo, Sleaford Mods are the most lyrically sincere and genuinely exciting bands to challenge Torrie-Britain and the status-quo since The Sex Pistols. 

Driven by angst, but backed by a juxtaposing minamilistic stage set-up of a mere laptop-come-beat-machine, accompanied by a beer-wielding counterpart, Sleaford Mods are a formidable festival force, who's live set is surprisingly, yet utterly entertaining - and every concoction of words that Jason Williamson spits at you, will be the truest you'll hear all weekend. 

And with fellow punk-duo/Radio 1 golden boys, Slaves, appearing on the same stage just prior to them, expect to be treated to a list of comedic expletives fired at their Big Top predecessors as soon as Williamson grabs the mic. 

2. Animal Noise: Caravanserai, Friday 12.40am 

They may have been in the game for a few years now, but Colchester's swampy-funk sweethearts, Animal Noise - in the wake of signing to Sony Europe and being playlisted on Radio 1 - are finally starting to reach out to the audiences and obtain the acclaim that their left-field acoustic-folk stomp warrants. They may be new to the prestigious festival circuit and many of the ears that will hear them this weekend, but the spark that they'll ignite amongst the abundance of arm-yielding festival-goers upon finding their scatty rhythm, will leave you declaring them your new favourite band. 

3. Charli XCX: Main Stage, Friday 6.15pm

Having somewhat lived in the shadows of the megastars that she's been writing hits for over the past couple of years, the past 12 months has finally seen Charli XCX blossom into the sultry and commanding popstar that her infectious song writing ability would have you suggest. And after a series of high-profile and critically acclaimed festival slots to her name already this year, expect her Bestival set to be the best possible way to wave goodbye to her and your festival season.

4. Tame Impala: The Big Top, Friday 11.30pm

Despite playing the festival's graveyard shift, Kevin Parker's acid-draped gang of psych-mind-manipulators will prove a hit with all those tripping at the sight of the bands kaleidoscope on-screen visuals - entirely soundtracked by the swirling, time-travelling phaser-draped perfection of their new album, 'Currents'. 

5. The Bohicas: Invaders of the Future, Saturday 11pm

With little in the way of gritty, straight-up guitar bands at this years Bestival, Domino's latest exports, The Bohicas will be looking to turn heads and capitalise on the indie-loving festival-goers, yearning for a piece of 2006. Who knows, it might just be their crowning moment - and it might just be the incarnation indie's next leather jacket-heroes.

[LISTEN] Raileigh Ritchie - Bloodsport

The track ‘Bloodsport’ originally appeared on Raleigh Ritchie’s 2013 EP ‘Black & Blue’ and has since amassed over 4 million streams on Spotify. This new version features additional string arrangements provided by the esteemed Rosie Danvers and Wired Strings, who feature on records by Kanye West, Adele, and many more.

The video for the single, in true Raleigh Ritchie style, tells a story of a man reeling from a breakup; however this man has a plan. Spliced with humour, the heartbroken visual also excludes strength and taps into the songs’ profound message that when in a relationship we should fight against what the world throws at us, as opposed to each other. Acted by the man himself, the video perfectly compliments this addictive track. 

Raleigh Ritchie’s debut album will be released later this year. He will be performing at festivals this summer and on his UK headline tour on the dates below:

[WATCH] KINGS OF THE CITY - WRONG

On the brink of what looked like certain commercial success, London based music collective Kings Of The City were struck by tragedy as singer Danny Wilder was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.

Following a year-long battle, Danny sadly passed away in October 2013. The following August, the band started a Kickstarter campaign to finish the project they started on with Danny. 'Wrong' is the first release from the album, ’No Snake’. The track is a genre-bending amalgamation of hooks, insightful lyricism and soul, check out the video for it below. 

Rest in peace, Danny.

[LISTEN] Darwin Deez - Time Machine

Darwin's back in business. Infectious, echoey riffs on his custom 4-string guitar make for a classic Darwin Deez tune. It's a song that will make you want to get up and dance. It's a song that's hard not to love.

The four-man group led by the charismatic Darwin Smith have released "Time Machine", the second single from and the fourth track on their forthcoming LP "Double Down". "Songs for Imaginative People" never quite reached the heady heights of his self-titled debut album, but with no less than 14 UK tour dates (link below) in line after this album release, fans should be flocking to see Deez's quirky dance moves and addictive indie-pop concoctions, new and old.

Following on from "Kill Your Attitude" released earlier this year, this song is another great example of Darwin's lyrical and melodical talent. Summery pop at its purest, he is not disappointing. Give it a listen, below.

The album will be released on the 18th September through Lucky Number.

[IAI PREMIERE] I.D.O.L - Howling Moon

I.D.O.L may not be a name you recognise, but Declan Cullen is a musician who has taken his latest project to great lengths under this name and now he's ready to reveal some of his music for the It's All Indie readers.

Formerly the front man for Coastal Cities, Cullen's latest venture allows him to explore the eras of the past and play around with the evolving sounds to create a futuristic spin on it. With a sense of being homegrown and a heavily nostalgic feel, I.D.O.L is an umbrella for respectful pop music and the boundaries that it can push.

Howling Moon, the first demo to be revealed over the Summer of this year, takes influence from many movements across the musical spectre and merges to form a bond of modern 80s vibes, complimented by 70s riffs and loops. Clearly well informed by the past and present, Cullen cleverly picks the best formulas to play around with before producing something original and paying homage to his influences. 

This is just a demo and Howling Moon is the first one to be released but we've listened to another track and it might just raise the bar even more. We're excited just thinking about what I.D.O.L is going to release in the future if this how he kickstarts the new venture.

Introducing... Strange Names

Hailing from the Minnesota Twin Cities, Strange Names are currently focused on New York, but with  such a polished style the trio are poised to make the transatlantic jump with debut album “Use Your Time Wisely”.  Judging by the lead single, the band have tightened their sound from hazy indie into precise, angular pop with the help of rising production star Andrew Maury. ‘Ricochet’ is a titan of neon melodies, sitting comfortably between the Hoosiers’ sophomore material and the supercharged pop of Human League.

Despite their vibrant disco sensitivities the trio keep hard work as their core ethic. Initially finished in Minneapolis, the album was scrapped and rerecorded in New York; “We wanted to get it right; we had to" the band said.

We've gone so long without new music from Ms Welch, and now we can't wait for more, it's good to have her back!

Single Review...AZTECS - Black + White

It's amazing how quickly six months can just pass you by, I first posted about indie pop duo Aztecs back in the middle of May. Now I find myself here mid November, in a darkened room, wind and rain pounding against my window with only the gloom of my Mac illuminating the path where my fingers should type, writing about their next prismatic musical installment 'Black + White'.

"Prismatic - (of colours) formed, separated, or distributed by or as if by an optical prism", "A flash of prismatic light on the edge of the glass"

The above is definitely a fitting definition to this vibrant 80's inspired indie-synth-pop belter, I'm not usually one for pinning a label on a bands identity or sound but prismatic pop certainly has a ring to it...right?

It was always going to be a challenge when following up to their debut single 'Bad Blood'. Having already stamped down their identity with a catchy synth based pop foundation, this coupled with an ever growing buoyant fan base it was never going to be easy for the Ashbourne based duo. 

I am pleased to say 'Black + White' doesn't disappoint in the slightest. It retains the bands identity but packs a punch with bright and colourful lyrics, emphasising their flair and passion for songwriting which is more apparent than ever before. Add this track to their back catalogue and already you can see the makings of an exciting set list as they hit the road. 

On the 9th of December Aztecs will embark on a nationwide run of shows starting at London's Buffalo Bar, If you are in the area I suggest you get yourself along, it promises to be an evening of electrifying live music!

Years & Years announce 2015 UK tour

The London trio are on the up, and have set their sights high with a very ambitious tour, or shall I say ambitious considering where they were a year ago. After unveiling the stream for their new track "Desire" and going on tour with Sam Smith, the band have suddenly blown up.
