Watch Glass Caves's video for "Alive"

2015 saw Glass Caves sell out most of their début album tour, support Augustines, headline London’s Koko and appear at Dot to Dot and Isle of Wight Festivals amongst others. Not to mention a national tour for ‘This Feeling’. Not bad for a band who spent the start of the year busking in some of the very same cities. In what proved to be a testament to their early leg-work, their self-funded début album ‘Alive’ made Record Store Day’s Top 40 on week of release.

Now named after, but not featuring on, the album Glass Caves are set to release their new single. Written whilst on tour in Edinburgh, ‘Alive’ is a euphoric and anthemic ode to living in the moment; the imposing and somewhat majestic nature of the city and its neighbouring landscape evident in the grandeur of the song itself. Singer Matt Hallas explains the themes of the song as such: “The realisation of knowing you are living a part of your life you will remember forever. A shout of being alive.”

Having already earned a reputation as one of the UK’s most dedicated touring bands (their relentlessness matched only by the dedication of their fans that follow them from venue to venue), Glass Caves have stepped up an already ambitious sound into grander proportions, with new single ‘Alive’ being the standard bearer of the material for their much-anticipated second album.

Glass Caves stream album track "Go"

Yesterday their new song "Go" premièred on The Clash's website, it's a brand new song that's going to be the centre-piece of their début album, "Alive". It's an energetic song with screeching guitars, even bigger choruses and some great lyrical hooks!

This sound was massive in 2004/2005, and since that was 10 or so years ago think of this as the new wave of Post-Punk-Revival bands! They can seriously do some damage with this stormer if people pick up on it, hence why we're posting, just listen!

Glass Caves cover The Police's "Walking On The Moon"

Glass Caves have been around for four years now and slowly but surely are building a great fanbase, and one of those reasons is the covers they record. Today we have a great video of them covering The Police's "Walking On The Moon" acoustically.

The foursome - and some great hair - certainly have turned Sting and Co's song into one of their own here. Check it out below! You can also listen to their latest track "Out of Control" here too.

Track of the week... Glass Caves - Summer Lover

They've conquered North of England and now they're set to become a whole lot bigger! The band come from Leeds - which has an amazing scene - and have a brilliant EP on the way. Glass Caves are going to be on everyone's lips in the coming months, having played Reading & Leeds Festivals earlier this year they're about to get even better and go furthur!

If you imagine merging the upbeat riffs of Bloc Party, the melodies of The Maccabees and the anthematic choruses of The 1975 then you've got them! The song it-self is a brezzy summer anthem to shout from the rooftops, not too sure why it's being released in the Winter but at least it'll give you something to look forwards to over the coming months.

Their blend of Alternative-Rock mixed with the combination of Electronics and good old British Indie-Rock has turned out to be a positive one. I can see this song being played everywhere next year, just remember where you heard them first!
