We The Wild unveil "Glow" video

Their second EP is only 4 days old but it's easily become one of our favourites of the year so far, and it looks like the duo are really enjoying it too! As can be seen here with the video to accompany "Glow", Ant and Casey take to the table for a spot of table tennis, as you do!

With quite a few good rallies and some skills involved too, I doubt they're going to be called up for the British team anytime soon, but it's a fun one to watch.

Track of the week... We The Wild - Trampoline

"Trampoline" is the latest song to come out from London based duo We The Wild, it's the second song off their second EP, but don't let that fool you into thinking that it's their second best song. Its far from that, it's up there with some of the best Alternative tracks of the past 12 months. Some instant comparisons are drawn against Cambridge band Alt-J, but the band are adamant to make a bigger sound every time they release a track to their fans.

So the song - it starts off with claps and a wash of gorgeous electronic noises, it parts way to Ant's smooth and silky vocals and a simple but effective guitar. Who would've thought that so little instrumentation can hold so much beauty. The chorus is one that can easily fill the largest of tents at festivals, just imagine the sun and you're there! The track takes a slow turn around the two minute mark but builds and builds and erupts to finally end in an abundance of noise. Anthematic and addictive, We The Wild have done it yet again!

Track of the week... We The Wild - Paper Plane

We The Wild announced the first inkling of new material last week with the duo suddenly announcing that they'll have new music up "this week", but literally less than 24 hours later fans were rejoicing as they unveiled "Paper Plane" from their forthcoming "Vol.II" EP, which is due to be released in Summer.

The track is the slowest track they've done to date, yet it once again shows that they're a versatile band, with industrial echoes and distorted vocals opening the song the song slowly builds to be a typical We The Wild number with layers upon layers of strings, guitar strums and sample pads. The track is short and sweet pitching in at less than three minutes long, but this does certainly have you yearning for more. The track builds and builds and ends in with a wash of sirens, Ant's vocals, violins (I'm assuming here) and various soundscapes.

A great return for a band that we gave the title of "EP of the year" for in 2013, looks like they're set to get 2014's accolade this year too! You can listen to the song below and all week on the blog too.

10 Of The Best Tracks We Heard This Week (Up to May 3rd)

We're back with TEN of the best tracks we've heard this week, once again they're in no special order and features a wide mix of styles. Keep an eye out for the 'free download' icons as some may be available to download.

Enjoy.

Club Kuru - All The Day

Uploaded literally less than 3 hours ago when we published the initial feature, the track from newcomers Club Kuru is simply stunning! The track - "All The Day" really builds up from a simple guitar and drum beats in the first new seconds to something that blossoms into a euphoric electronic track is character. This certainly is a great find, you need to listen to this!

Seoul - White Morning

We've featured the Montreal based band on here before, and for good reasons too! They've not even been around for a full year, but already they're working their way into our hearts with ethereal vocals, smooth guitar lines and shimmering pop hooks.

Grab yourself a free download of the song below - just click on the download icon in the stream.

Lovelife - Angel

The band from London who're currently residing in LA have unveiled a brand new track called "Angel", with Leonard's vocals dominating the track, the light and ethereal synths combined with the acosutic guitar in the chorus gives this track something unique. Who would've thought acoustic guitars and loads of synths would work!

COMPNY - Begging Me To Come

"Begging Me To Come" is the début track from Brighton's COMPNY, it features really good summer vibes to it. A real drive is behind it with piano keys and even some horns can be heard! Not much is known about the band, but from what can hear it's a nice mixture of good old Bombay Bicycle Club and Mystery Jets.

We The Wild - Paper Plane

"Paper Plane" is the first track to be streamed from the duo's forthcoming EP "Vol. II", which is out sometime this Summer. Since we heard from the band last they've toured around the UK with Dan Croll and have got a whole lot more people listening to their music. Check out the laid back electronic track below.

IYES - Toys (Demo)

The hotly tipped Brighton duo have unveiled a brand new song, it's still in demo for but to be honest this can be released tomorrow and it would still sound just as fresh! The band are currently surfing the hype wave and will soon be crashing down into the charts with songs such like as their latest demo. Head over to their soundcloud to grab a FREE download of a Beyonce cover!

Port Isla - Next In Line

As we had their song "Steamroller" as 'Track of the week' we also checked out their EP, and this gem was 2nd track in. "Next In Line" isn't what I'd think of when I think of Port Isla, less folky than their other material yet still has such a summer drive behind it with the silky vocals, piano keys and fresh guitar tones.

Coasts - Golden City

"Golden" is a brand new track from Coasts and it's set to feature on their new EP - "Oceans". The track as a distinctive 90's beat to it, with trembling guitars and oh so danceable rhythms. Scroll on down to check it out.

Cloud Control - Dammit

Cloud Control popped into Triple J to perform a cover earlier on this week, and the band has taken Blink 182's "Dammit" from a utter rock song to an acoustic gem. Watch them perform it below.

The Horrors - Chasing Shadows

Possibly the ONLY way we could finish our TEN tracks of the week. The Horrors' new album was streamed and as soon as the opening track finished we knew we were in love. A FULL stream of the track is below, enjoy!

Sounds of 2014 - #4 - We The Wild

After the sudden split of Futures late last year their fans were wondering when the next time they could see Ant West and his friends in action. Well a month ago a new duo came onto the scene, and guess what? Ant West and Casey Roarty formed a band, they called themselves We The Wild and their first EP was an absolute stormer as we found out only last month!

We The Wild have created the most exciting EP I have heard this year, and for that alone I am going to give them a score that I haven't given to anyone for a long time. The EP is full of interesting and intricate sounds, beautiful vocals & harmonies, gentle tones and the sound of the future. I can see them just getting bigger and bigger of this EP, and I really hope they're going to be as big as Alt-J, because the lads deserve it on talent and integrity alone, the most consistent EP I've heard in a while - just love it! - Don't believe me? Listen to it below!

It would be unfair to compare them against their past work but as far as uniqueness goes they're up there with the likes of Alt-J. Just doing what they love and not worrying about what anyone else thinks, it's just a coincidence that they've created a track with longevity. I'll be certainly eager to check out more of their stuff when it comes out, and would be really interested how they play this song (and others) live.

EP Review... We The Wild - Vol.1

After the sudden split of Futures late last year their fans were wondering when the next time they could see Ant West and his friends in action. Well a month ago a new duo came onto the scene, and guess what? Ant West and Casey Roarty formed a band, they called themselves We The Wild and their first EP is an absolute stunner!

It would be unfair to compare them against their past work but as far as uniqueness goes they're up there with the likes of Alt-J and Bastille. Just doing what they love and not worrying about what anyone else thinks "You Lost My Mind" is one of those glitchy-pop tracks that has you captured from the first note, certainly a track with longevity. I'll be certainly eager to check out them when they play this live, as I can see this being an interesting experience for everyone involved. "Body Electric (Blue)" is their most played track on their soundcloud, and for good reasons too! It's been played everywhere, from the BBC's Radio 1 to Canadian Radio Stations and even cooking shows in Channel 4. The electronics on this song are just amazingly complimented with the piano keys and strings, something you don't find these days, bands experimenting with Electronics and Orchestral instruments and pulling it off, a smashing track all round!

The second half of the EP is more of a lighter affair, it starts off with "Daisy May", it's the nearest track on the EP that I can see a conventional 4 piece band being able to play, with guitars and elements of the orient within it's soft underbelly. If you listen to the song in the second verse you can hear some interesting sounds - and once again, everything clicks! The EP ends with the simply sublime "Float" - the track has gentle guitar tones, harmonies and an abundance of catchy lyrics that will have you singing to yourself for hours and days!

We The Wild have created the most exciting EP I have heard this year, and for that alone I am going to give them a score that I haven't given to anyone for a long time. The EP is full of interesting and intricate sounds, beautiful vocals & harmonies, gentle tones and the sound of the future. The duo are back, and with yet another solid track, this time in the form of "Body Electric (Blue)". Easily a band that will be on the lips of all of the critics come the turn of the year when they'll be compiling the 'sound' lists for next year.
