New Order and Bring Me The Horizon to headline The Other Stage at Glastonbury in 2016

New Order and (rather sensationally) Bring Me The Horizon have been revealed as the leading contenders to headline The Other Stage at Glastonbury in 2016.

Bring Me The Horizon singer Oli Sykes told Loaded Magazine at last night's NME Awards, "I'm not supposed to tell anyone about it but, yeah, we’re going to be playing Glastonbury. We’re trying to step out of our comfort zone and appeal to people who we wouldn’t normally appeal to. We’re doing that in a lot of ways this year. As well as the festival we may or not be playing, we’re also playing with a choir and a full orchestra for Teenage Cancer Trust at The Royal Albert Hall in London."

Another insider says that Adele will play The Pyramid Stage and New Order will be on The Other Stage, clashing on the same day - they say -  "Although New Order are veterans, they’ve still got an alternative appeal, so it makes them a nice alternative for Glastonbury fans who see Adele as very mainstream."

Hot Chip have remixed New Order's latest single "Tutti Frutti", which is lifted from New Order's new album "Music Complete", which is out now via Mute. The electronic ensemble have given the New Order track an added layer of weirdness and showcases that they're not just good at making music, they're pretty darn good at remixing them too!

[LISTEN] New Order - Restless (RAC Remix)

Two juggernauts of the electronic world come together here, from the 80's and 90's we have New Order, and from the 00's onwards we have RAC, who is arguably one of the most prolific remixers out there. Here he's taken New Orders new track and has turned it into something that the Manchester based band would be proud of, full of danceable beats, pulsating synths and airy vocals, this could easily be played live!

Great work RAC!

[LISTEN] New Order - Restless (Agoria Remix)

These days when someone remixes New Order you're left unimpressed, well the new remix of "Restless" by Agoria has changed my view on that subject. Here he's changed their synth-pop track into a Dance classic with very anthematic drum beats and soundscapes.

The remix will feature on the band's deluxe album, also with remixes from collaborator Andrew Weatherall as well as RAC and xxxy.

The Suitcase Dwellers perform a heartwarming cover of "Blue Monday" by New Order

Now here's something we've not seen for a while, a classic 80's synth-pop alt-dance track being covered in an acoustic format. Here The Suitcase Dwellers have performed a heart-warming cover of New Order's "Blue Monday", with some big folky hooks, strong vocals and while the song has a pulsating drive it slows down towards the end as the camera pans away from them, you're just left awestuck.

The Suitcase Dwellers, definitely check them out! The cover was performed for Ontsofa - click on the link and it'll take you to Ontsofa's YouTube page.

[LISTEN] New Order - Restless

You're now about to listen to the first new New Order track in quite a while - their last proper LP was released back in 2005. "Restless" is taken from their new album "Music Complete" which is out September 25th via Mute. The track itself is a lot less electronic than I was thinking it was going to be, yes it's got synths but there is a prominent acoustic guitar and strings throughout the track.

Maybe this is the new relaxed era of New Order? All we know is that we've got until September the 25th to find out. But with Brandon Flowers, Iggy Pop and Elly Jackson on vocals and the Chemical Brothers' Tom Rowlands and Stuart Price producing some of the tracks this might be a red-herring as to what the album might sound like. You can listen to "Restless" below.

Introducing... Real Lies

Debut single, 'World Peace' by London trio Real Lies could not sum up a bands sound more accurately. Straight from the kick off, the border of 80s and 90s pop synth is crossed to create a melody almost too close for comfort to New Order; it's spot on.

Sounding just like the Italia '90 hit, 'World In Motion', Real Lies are instant controllers of their own destiny, slipping in clips of 90s football on a box TV and memorabilia strung across the walls in the video for the dance hit. It's almost a surprise that John Barnes didn't crop up with an irrelevant rap half way through.

B-side, 'Deeper', is a throwback to Pet Shop Boys as Neil Tennant's mundane vocals echo are near enough present in every nook of the track. The effervescing synth still rings strong into latest EP, 'North Circular', which comprises more toned down and troubling vocals similar to The Streets. 'Dab Housing' on the other hand is dreamy and includes smooth tropical groove without getting too carried away. The track, perfectly suited for those dark and misty club nights is as intriguing as the band members, who choose to refer to themselves by their initials, KK, TW and PK. Don't expect them to remain strangers though, as the indie-dance pioneers bring it back to 2015.

You may have seen that Joy Division now have a twitter account. Fans on Facebook were angry at the move, claiming that it "just isn't right to now try and fuel the sales of Curtis' thoughts", As one user commented. The post refers to the book "So This Is Permanence", containing Curtis' thoughts and diaries, which is out October 16th. Another person who wasn't happy with the move was Joy Division's bass player Peter Hook who took to Twitter to vent his anger:

New Order sign with Mute for new album

The 80's synth band has now signed a deal with Mute, the news comes after a week of ifs and buts regarding working with DFA's James Murphy, now known to be just media guff.  - We even reported on the possibility of a new album earlier this year.

The album will be a follow-up to their most recent release "Lost Sirens", which in many fans and critics view was better than the "Waiting For The Sirens Call" - hopefully more good news will be coming out soon, demos perhaps? more songs being débuted live? Who knows, but as a fan I can't wait to see them play! All I hope is that a new song called "Drop The Guitar" will be released!
