[LISTEN] Spring King - The Summer

Spring King have revealed their brand new single "The Summer". They're huge fans of The Beach Boys and this song was written as an ode to them according to the band. The track was first played on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show. More news from the band is that they're going to be finally releasing their debut album on the 10th of June! It's called "Tell Me If You Like To".

We've been liking what Clay have been up to since the first song, and their latest effort - "Stay Calm!" - is yet another banger. The band have recently unveiled their self-produced video for their latest single, it's glitchy, it's black and white, (the track is funky as heck) and we're loving it.

Anteros share video for latest single, "Breakfast"

Anteros have recently just come off a support tour with High Tyde, and they tore it up, and the corner-stone of their live show was this track, "Breakfast". When I saw them live I instantly thought of Blondie, not because of a blonde female fronting the band but they sound exactly like what Blondie would sound like if they started up in the 2010's.

With Annie Mac already going mad for them it's just going to be a short while until everyone notices them, the video for "Breakfast" is below.

[LISTEN] Weaves - Candy

Whoah, so this is a bat crap crazy track, but I love it. 'Candy'  by Weaves is being released on Memphis Industries in the UK, so as a massive Menace Beach fanboy my interest was already piqued, but that probably didn't quite prepare me for the sugary sweet fuzz-rush Weaves were about explode all up in my ears. Describing the song as a "bright pink piece of cake" vocalist Jasmyn Burke explains that the track is piece of colourful escapism that invites everyone "on board to join in the fruitful haze".

Like an LCD Soundsystem track spinning into an acidic trip through the bright colours and surreal landscapes of the Nintendo universe, 'Candy' is both hooky and unsettling at the same time. Burke's manic voice is simultaneously desperate and commanding, bellowing instructions through a neon speakerphone in Weaves own cartoon creation. You can feel your teeth rotting whilst listening to this tune, similarly you can feel your energy levels being perked up immensely. Shake the fizzy drink that is Weaves' 'Candy' below:

Peter Bjorn and John have released a new single from their upcoming album "Breakin' Point", and the single is funnily enough also called "Breakin' Point". I just don't know how they keep on creating indie-pop hit after indie-pop hit!

KYKO unveils visuals for "Native"

London based singer-producer - KYKO - has got a lot of love recently from BBC Radio 1, Spotify and has supported X Ambassadors and Fickle Friends recently. His latest single, "Native", was playlisted by BBC Radio 1 and since then he's been getting noticed a lot more.

Bloc Party unveil video for "Virtue"

London based Bloc Party are somewhat of a veteran of the Dance-Rock genre now, and since the release of their fifth album "Hymns" they've gone onto prove that even after a line-up change that they're still a band to be reckoned with!

Below is the video for their latest single "Virtue", which is one of the more upbeat tracks on their latest LP. "Hymns" is out now.

[LISTEN] Venus Demilo - Sinking Ships

Venus Demilo is a new name to me but I predict it’ll be on plenty of people’s horizons imminently. They’ve come up through BBC Introducing Merseyside and if you like Foals, Everything Everything, Alt-J and Bastille then this new single Sinking Ships is for you. Throw in a touch of the Nick Mulveys and you know you’re in for a treat.

The video is cool and slick and the sound is totally sublime. One of those songs that grabs you the first time you hear it and then continues to grow on you. Tom Anderson’s vocals are full of passion and angst in equal measures (this is a good thing!). It’s an emotional, story-telling song and Anderson’s skills as a lyricist are clear. I was drawn in to listen and re-listen to the lyrics.

Sure I was reminded of Alt-J and more so Bastille with a hint of Years and Years but make no mistake Venus Demilo has its own sound. Reuben Hobson’s mightily impressive musicianship as lead guitarist makes this song multi-facetted. It’s not just the lyrics or the vocals or the music. Combined with Christopher Connor’s bass and Ryan Williams on the drums this band has serious talent and this song encapsulates everything that is needed for a hit record.

"Sinking Ships" is a song that will be sung back to the band when they play live. I’d like to be there to see that.

LANY shares video for summer ready track "Where The Hell Are My Friends"

As the post title suggests the track is ready for the summer! LANY's new track has got the video treatment and it's one to behold too. On the video vocalist Paul Klein added, "There needed to be a vibe but not at the expense of narrative. I was insanely lucky to work with Nadia on piecing together a concept that delivered both".

Be sure to keep an eye on this band while at festivals, they're going to be huge over here soon!

[LISTEN] Clay - Stay Calm!

Clay have returned to the stage with a brand new track, "Stay Calm!". The new track is high infectious and see's the quartet from Leeds delve into more of an electronic sound compared to their other tracks. They've now got a lot of spunk, edge and a whole load of attitude, Clay have really made a funky indie-pop anthem for the 10's!

The band said - "When writing this track we wanted a very deep sound sonically. Musically we touched upon people we admire like Michael Jackson for influence. There’s obvious nods with the groove of the track. It’s written from an obsessive viewpoint you know, that idealistic thought of being in love. One of the lines ‘Im not gonna change the world overnight’ is almost justification for the lyric it precedes, that sort of unsure/ indecisive mindset. But whatever, Stay Calm!"

[LISTEN] Kassassin Street - Hand In My Pocket

Portsmouth based Kassassin Street have revealed their latest punchy track, "Hand In My Pocket", and this one has a slight tint of Pysch-Pop as well as some quite pleasant guitar tones in the chorus, which takes me back to the mid 00's! With 2016 festival season almost upon us, Kassassin Street look set for another big run and are certainly ones to look out for if they continue to add tunes like "Hand in My Pocket" to their arsenal and build on their already stellar live reputation.

[LISTEN] Franklin - Causes

The trio from St. Albans have revealed their lead track off their brand new EP "Blueberry Sky", it's called "Causes" and is one of their most well rounded tracks yet. The EP was recorded in The Pigeon Detectives' studio after the Leeds band saw them perform in Hertford's Forum back in 2015.

The track has such an anthemic feel to it with big guitar lines, vocal hooks and a driving drumbeat that'll certainly get you in the mood for a good grooving. Franklin's new EP is out soon, but to tease you a bit they're offering this up as a free download, what nice guys!

[LISTEN] Zak Abel - Everybody Needs Love

We loved Zak's track "Running From Myself" and his latest cut is just as catchy. "Everybody Needs Love" is the perfect blend of R&B, Soul and Funk, it really does sound like Pharrell Williams wrote this song, it's got festivals written all over it. With some great chanting in the chorus "everybody needs love love love love",  the track plays with your ears as even some strings are introduced.

Zak is really on the ball with this one, a cross genre epic!

[LISTEN] Kygo - Raging (feat. Kodaline)

Now this is a poptastic indie track if ever we saw one, it's Kygo's fifth single to be taken off his début album. Now what makes this track amazing is that it's not just Kodaline that features on the track, but that fact that none other than James Bay co-wrote the track with Kygo - making it one of the collaborations of the year in my mind.

[LISTEN] VYNCE - Lust

I do have a soft bit for great Indie-Pop, hence why I love this track! It's VYNCE's début single and is the lead track off their début EP which was out yesterday. There must be something in the water in Liverpool as so many great Indie-Pop bands are based there these days, Circa Waves and The Wombats are just two examples, and by the sounds of things VYNCE are wanting to be the next great thing to come out of Merseyside.

[LISTEN] Francis Lung - Dance 4 Sorrow

Today see's another bright new track from "Francis Lung", which is just in time for the European Summer, it's got some bouncy guitars, and a dancable drum beats. The new cut is released from his new release "Mother's Son" Vol II EP, and features Francis doing everything on his own (as far as instrumentation goes at least).

So stick this on and fool yourself it's 35'c outside!

[LISTEN] Ded Rabbit - Never Gonna Learn [IAI PREMIÈRE]

Today we bring to you Ded Rabbit's new song, "Never Gonna Learn", which is the AA-side of their new single. The band have quite a British sound to them, with some comparisons drawn against Art Brut, Little Comets and Catfish and the Bottlemen from the off.

It's a punchy track with some "hey hey hey" shouts similar to that of Vampire Weekend's "A-Punk", and it's catchy like it too. They're a great Indie-Pop band with a edge to them, you can listen to "Never Gonna Learn" below, it gets your head bopping and foot tapping for sure!
