Taken from Fixers' "HOT PLANTS VOL.2". This is an essential in any collector's repertoire. Where as the first volume covers Fixers pop classics during the early Sixties these latter songs encompass the most creative years by Fixers encapsulating the more serious side of their musical talents.
After sadly being dropped by their label a few days before the album release (bastards!), Fixers have gone remix crazy, and this is the latest song to get a re-work. You can download it completely for free too thanks to the band!
One of the year's most dissected new groups, it seems strange to think about holding Fixers début album in your hands. Yet come May 14th the band's LP will not only be finished it will be perched in record shops across the country. 'We'll Be The Moon' is complete, and with the album on the horizon now they're releasing a mass amount of free remixes, this is just one!
The début album ‘We’ll Be The Moon’, is set for release 14th May. A kaleidoscopic, psychedelic adventure, it features everything from Middle Eastern melodies to Japanese pop, New York dance grooves to Beach Boys harmonies. It will be one of the most thrilling albums of the year from this one-of-a-kind band. So here is a free download of a song off that album, enjoy!
This single is virtually a re-make of two of their biggest singles, 'Iron Deer Dream' is the single they released on the Young And Lost Club label, and 'Swimmhaus San Diego' is a re-model of their stunner 'Swimmhaus Johannesburg' but just change a few bits around and there you go!
Iron Deer Dream: 'Iron Deer Dream' is a a fantastic song, the intro is slow and gains body as it progresses, the tumbling echoing vocals by singer 'Jack' comes in and synths come over the top to provide a anthemic effect. Then the guitar rush comes in and I fell in love with it. The new version just captivates you and wins you all over again! Synths, Guitars and wonderful vocals, you need to buy this! Out of 10: 9/10
Swimmhaus San Diego: With classic piano house lines, startling guitar bursts, echo-drenched vocals and a thrilling 4/4 beat. It's pop music in its most bold and forward-thinking sense. Such is their array of influences, Fixers sound never stands still, it's a combination of sonic adventure and their. Fixers create something modern and fresh, and that is exactly what this visionary Oxford-based band embodies. This version sounds a bit more 80's than their last attempt at the song, but overall I'd say it's a great improvement! Out of 10: 8.5/10

After getting the free download of their début track 'Amsterdam' around March time of this year I've been really intrigued by this band. Their psychedelic and experimental take on Tropical-Indie guitar based music is a niche that had not been explored until this funky Oxford based band came into being.
So far this year they've released two 7" singles and two 10" EPs, with lots of music already out there to listen to you'd be hard pressed not to find some of their tracks catchy. The latest offering is one of their oldest tracks 'Majesties Ranch' which has been re-reocrded for the latest EP, and it sounds amazing! And even their older music is amazing, they re-released their old 3 track EP that was sold at their gigs in 2010 free, and it's available just at the bottom of the post. With a début album coming at last in 2012, they hype is already starting to gain some momentum, especially since the last EP has got so many rave reviews. Keep a close eye on this band, we'll be following them very closely in the coming year!
Fixers are known for their Phycadellic and Experimental music, this track is their most Experimental by far. Starting with the video it looks like a retro 70's kids show. What's more is that the track - which is taken from their new EP released December 5th - is the most Psychedelic since their early stuff. The same music they released on the 'Surf-Wax' CD last year.
Fixers are playing The Horn in St Albans tonight and are paying The Independent in Sunderland on the 5th. Their live shows are to remember, they sound so great live and I'd love to hear this new song live too, I can imagine them being even more experimental come the début album.
Our 4th instalment of the finest music to fall under the tag 'Indie', all music that was not initially free to share has been given consent by each and every one of the bands and or their management.
1) Pilots - Let The Light In 2) Films Of Colour - Slow Burn 3) Fixers - Trans Love 4) Elephant - Ants 5) Smith & Burrows - Funny Looking Angels 6) Dog Is Dead - River Jordan (Acoustic) 7) Futures - Islands In The Sea 8) Waylayers - Magnets 9) Chapel Club - Waterlight Park (Demo) 10) We Are Tokyo - Magnetic 11) Trophy Wife - Canopy Shade (Acoustic)
With doors opening at 19:00 instead of 19:30 which was what I was expecting I thought, great Fixers will be on at 19:30... nope... 20:00... nope, they rocked up onto the stage at 20:30, which is fine. I was just being a impatient boy to be honest. Fixers opened up their set with 'Another Lost Apache' which is a bouncy track with riffs and sweet vocals, this got the crowd on their side from the off! After that they went into 'Crystals' which (I would say) is their signature track, this got a lot of radio play and I even noticed a few people singing along to it, I know I was.
At this point I noticed the drum-kit, it had a projection of yellow, red and orange colours on it swirling around, I thought it was a nice addition to this (already) quirky band. 'Uriel' was next up which is the 3rd track in their latest EP and also by coincidence the 3rd track in the set. This is a slower track but then builds up speed towards the end with people banging their heads along to the clunking bass and drums.
Their latest single was the next in the set with synths, fast drumming and quick bursts if guitars, this song basically sealed the deal for me, their best track by far, 'Swimmhaus Johannesburg' is out now for you to buy. 'Iron Deer Dream' and 'Amsterdam' were the next two songs, by their fan-base these are now considered oldies as they constantly keep on releasing EPs, Singles and free songs (which I love by the way). 'Majesties Ranch' closed the set, this track is new to me but you can hear it on youtube, just search for it and you can find thier amazing set closer there, a live recording but still, amazing right??? Of course!
The band is without doubt on top form here proving to me that they are ones to look out for in 2012 when they release their album.

Fixers have released a rare EP that was only sold at their shows in March/April last year. This is by far some of their oldest stuff and it's a combination of Phycadelic-Rock and Lo-Fi-Indie, they are rough recordings, I take it this might be what their label signed them up for.
This is their post to their fans
You can download our 2010/Self Released CD-R 'Surf Wax' for free below. This CR-R was available at most of the shows we did around March/April 2010 and was limited to only fifty copies. It is totally sold out. Hope you enjoy x
Released as a super limited 7", Fixers are a unique, thrilling psychedelic five-piece in love with Japanese pop, middle eastern music and the dance grooves of late 70s new york. new single 'Swimmhaus Johannesburg' shines a light on these influences.
Swimmhaus Johannesburg:
With classic piano house lines, startling guitar bursts, echo-drenched vocals and a thrilling 4/4 beat. It's pop music in its most bold and forward-thinking sense. Mixed by Alan Moulder, it's destined to cement Fixers as the most exciting new band in the UK. Such is their array of influences, Fixers sound never stands still, it's a combination of sonic adventure and their. Fixers create something modern and fresh, and that is exactly what this visionary Oxford-based band embodies.
Out of 10: 8.5/10
Swimmhaus Johannesburg (Beat Connection Remix):
I'd have to say, I prefer this version a little bit more than the studio one! It's more up-beat and gives something for you to really stomp your feat to, a dance track for the Indie folks to get their converse into. With a house style keys flowing through it and airy vocals this is one for the DJ Set, people wouldn't hate it, not one bit!
Fixers are a brilliant band from Oxford. This will be their début single and it's released as a 7 inch single only limited to 500 copies on the Young And Lost Club, so you know they are good!
This genre of music I'd just like to be lazy and say 'Indie-Rock' but if anything it sounds like amazing 'Psych-Rock'. One track that has been played over and over again, this track really does grow on you, and it should. Synths, Guitars and wonderful vocals, you need to buy this! Out of 10: 9/10
Egyptian Aberration Cult: Keeping to their tradition of not trying to fit into one genre Fixers pull off a track that gains noise all the way trough, think of it as a trippy-electro track. Given the right treatment this could be remixed and given a full dub-step approval. However it does have it's down sides. Such as the first minute is the same repetitive structure. But as the track progresses the track becomes more than that with more synths welcoming you. Out of 10: 8/10

Fixers are a brilliant band from Oxford (and of which is coming a hub for brilliant under the radar bands as of late, with the likes of Chad Valley, Trophy Wife, Pet Moon, Jonquil and Foals). This will be their debut single and it's released as a 7 inch single only limited to 500 copies on the Young And Lost Club, so you know they are good!

They have even been featured in NME as the Radar Band of last week. So keep an eye out for them and buy the 7", its on the Young And Lost Club label so they will be big, thats what YALC are all about! Give the song a listen on their MySpace or Facebook (links below) and if you like that you will love their song 'Amsterdam' which is a free download (below too!).
