[LISTEN] ZIBRA - Goodbye Mondays

Until recently if you wanted to listen to ZIBRA's contribution to the FIFA 16 Soundtrack would be to buy the game itself. Now the band have unveiled a stream on their soundcloud. The track is currently not a part of any of their releases, but with hype surrounding the FIFA 16 soundtrack they'd be mad not to put this into their début album.

I don't care if Monday's blue, ZIBRA's latest effort sums up Monday life for me perfectly. Listen to it in full below.

ZIBRA reveal video for "Eclipse"

London via Cambridgeshire band ZIBRA have revealed a new video, this time for their track "Eclipse", which is lifted from their "EP2000" EP. The track was first released back in 2015 but is feeling as fresh as ever with this slick new visual.

The band are still on course for an album, and with this video giving them a lot more exposure I'm sure they'll be at the larger festivals this year!

[LISTEN] ZIBRA - Kernfrakt 400

If you're like me you'll love what you're about to hear. I grew up on a weird mix of Skater-Punk and Trance music - hence why I love ZIBRA so damn much! - and their latest cover is of Zombie Nation's "Kernkraft 400". Coming it at just two minutes long it's certainly long enough to give you some nostalgic chills.

Listen to it below.

[SOUNDS OF 2016] #8 - ZIBRA

Having spent most of 2015 supporting bands such as Coasts and Rat Boy on tour and performing some great covers you'd be thinking - OK just that then? But since the band signed to Sony Music they've really been moving, and fast!

With THREE EP's released this year all receiving positive feedback, they've also had TV spots on ITV and Channel 4, but what's probably most exciting of it all is that their track "Goodbye Monday" was featured on the FIFA 16 soundtrack.

They've refined their sound over the past 12 months and have been focusing on key aspects, the visuals on their music videos have gone from their own unique DIY feel to some highly polished pieces of art. They're one of the most exciting bands and can easily portray their recorded tracks well in a live environment, maybe that's why the BBC got them to headline the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury 2015. See it just gets better!

So what does 2016 have for ZIBRA fans? Well after a string of EPs, 5 covers and a couple of singles I can see them going the full hog and release a début album, but maybe nearer the summer. One thing is for sure, ZIBRA, they'll be around for a while - mark my words!

ZIBRA unveil "Wasted Days" video

ZIBRA have already had a  'In New Music We Trust' playlist and a headline slot n the  BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury earlier this year. Their new single "Wasted Days" is 3 minutes of riot pop with ZIBRA's signature synths dominating the track over a shimmering bassline and an immense chorus chanting "WE ALL FALL DOWN".

Frontman Sam Battle says "  ... "Wasted Days’" is about time passing by and not really realising it. Trying to write songs or whatever you’re into and being productive and what not, then you look back a week later and realise you actually did nothing except for make an impressive beer can and pizza box tower and a bigger list of things to do. The feeling is endless I'm sure people can empathise".

[TRACK OF THE WEEK] ZIBRA - Paris

It's safe to say that we're huge fans of Zibra's, and we're loving the trio's brand new track, the single is released via Epic Records on September 7th, and the band have also announced a September tour with Rat Boy. After a successful performance at Glastonbury on the BBC Introducing Stage the band have now unleashed "Paris" on their fans, and it's one of their most infectious tracks to date!

The track is a stand-alone single and is going to be pushing the band to new heights, especially after they were playlisted by BBC Radio 1 a few weeks ago. The track has a slick abundance of glitchy electro samples, funky cowbells and with a bassline that will get any disco lover grooving and lyrics that'll be lingering in your head all day - Zibra have done it again!

ZIBRA cover Years & Years' "King"

ZIBRA have just came off a stint supporting Years & Years on their UK tour, and it looks like it's the trio have rubbed off of ZIBRA. Their cover really compliments the original but the band have totally took it over putting their own glitchy electro-punk rock (combo) sound on it, and it's well worth the listen if you're into either band!

Zibra reveal cover of Alice Deejay's "Better Of Alone"

Zibra have covered Alice Deejay's track "Better Off Alone", which was released way back in 1998 as a part of her "Who Needs Guitars Anway" album. This is the second track that Zibra have covered from the 1990's, with the first being "Loneliness" by Tomcraft.

The band are hoping to record a bunch of covers and release it as a part of a mixtape, if you can't wait for that then their début EP is out NOW! Zibra are a breath of fresh air, not conforming to HD videos on YouTube rather sticking to the retro VHS'. Their latest cover is a pure example of a band doing what they want and having fun too!

Track of the week... ZIBRA - Heartache

ZIBRA are a band that's literally burst onto the scene in the past few months, with their first show at St Albans' legendary venue The Horn only in July and recently been a tour support for Walking On Cars' mini-UK tour they're getting a lot of attention, and are quickly becoming a band to be reckoned with on the live circuit.

"Heartache" is the track of the week and we've picked it for a good reason too, it's a driven electro-rock track with nods to the bands' punk influences as well as 'popular' music of today - with deep basslines in the verses. The track portrays the band's energetic sets and has a varying amount of genres within the three minutes. I personally can't wait to see this song live, I can imagine them wrecking their kit whenever the chorus kicks in!

The band are also playing our Christmas show in Cambridge on the 17th of December at The Portland Arms, tickets can be found here for a very cheap price of £5.50.
