"Morning Dew" is The National's cover of Grateful Dead's cut, the track is lifted from The National's 'Day of the Dead" tribute album to the Grateful Dead curated by Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National, with all profits going to Red Hot Organization. "Day of the Dead" is released on 20th May via 4AD. It's not your usual The National material, the vocals are silky smooth like chocolate and the guitars are so on point here!

The National play new song "Checking Out" at Treasure Island Music Festival
The National performed a new track called "Checking Out" (aka "Roman Candle") while at the San Francisco, Treasure Island Music Festival. This version was performed on Sunday 18th of October and Matt Berninger said " ... It was called something else yesterday. Today, it's called Checking Out. Tomorrow, nobody knows."

The National début new song "Roman Candle" at LA show
The National have débuted a brand new song called "Roman Candle", the song was aired when the band performed at Troubadour in Los Angeles. The band are currently working on the follow-up to 2013's "Trouble Will Find Me", and with more live shows to come expect to hear some more new cuts from the un-titled album soon!

The National share new track "Sunshine On My Back"
The National have scored a soundtrack for "Mistaken For Strangers" and today they've revealed a track off the OST in the light of "Sunshine On My Back". The song was recorded alongside the tracks which became "Trouble Will Find Me" in 2012, and features guest vocals from Sharon Van Etten.

The National announce O2 show
The National have announced a final event on their Trouble Will Find Me world tour. Tickets to London's O2 on November 26th go on sale at 9.00am on Friday 18th July - www.livenation.co.uk/artist/the-national-tickets.
To kick off this momentous celebration and end of tour party The National have invited Wild Beasts to open the O2 proceedings. The end of tour announcement follows their stunning set on Saturday night in Hyde Park where they shared the bill with the legendary Neil Young and Crazy Horse.

The National announce London show for 26th June
The National have announced plans to play a one-off, relatively low-key show at London Roundhouse, 26th June. With the sale of tickets being restricted to 2 per person this is going to be sought after gig for any fan!
With it being VERY close to the weekend of Glastonbury rumours are now flying that they'll be the surprise act to play the Somerset festival.

The National perform "Sorrow" for 6 whole hours!
The National played their track "Sorrow" for six straight hours the other day as a part of Icelandic Ragnar Kjartansson's aptly titled "A Lot Of Sorrow".
While watching the footage, it looks like they mixed it up a bit with different takes on the song and mixing things up a bit with tempos, pedals, rhythms and more. You can check out some of the 'versions' below!

The National announce European tour dates
Following the announcement that The National are to release their new album Trouble Will Find Me on 21st May, the band have confirmed a further thirteen shows in Europe. These autumn dates follow their already announced world tour and festivals dates.
Trouble Will Find Me, The National’s new album will be released through 4AD and is the sixth studio album for the Brooklyn band. Trouble Will Find Me follows 2010’s critical and commercial success High Violet. The new album contains some of the most self-assured collection of songs produced by The National in their 14-year career. In an interview with UK’s UNCUT Magazine, front man Matt Berninger described the songs as more “immediate and visceral” than their previous work. Trouble Will Find Me possesses a directness, a coherency and an approachability that suggests The National are at their most confident.

"For the past ten years we’d been chasing something, wanting to prove something. And this chase was about trying to disprove our own insecurities. After touring High Violet, I think we felt like we’d finally gotten there. Now we could relax - not in terms of our own expectations but we didn’t have to prove our identity any longer."
