Track of the week... BOA - Wasted

From their very first track "If You Stay", we knew that we'd be a fan of BOA's, and over the last few months we've been listening to them (look at my last.fm stats if you will), and their latest effort is another big explosion on the music industries radar. "Wasted" is a more relaxed track than it's predecessors but features a new vocalist, the final member not to feature on a track - tagged as 'JL'.

His vocals are deeper than the other two and gives the band extra ammunition in their arsenal, a killer blow for any other band out there, they have something that a lot of other acts don't have, multiple vocalists, and they're all pretty damn good at it too. Anyway, back to the track, it features some smooth auto-tuned style harmonics, light guitar tones and a sound that's similar to Snakadaktal's début album. As the track erupts in the last few 30 seconds or so there is a beast within them that wants to be freed, a wash of guitars and a sense of urgency, if anything, this track makes us want more!

Aqulio reveals new track "Put Me Down"

Aqulio have today revealed another track from their forthcoming EP, and "Put Me Down" is one of their slowest and gentlest tracks to date. Not forgetting how they came to be, this cut really reminds us of their earlier work. It's a great piece of ambient-pop crossed over with melodic guitars and harmonics, they're going to be a big deal very soon!

Their EP is out May 31st on B3SCI / Islands Records.

BOA share new track "Wasted"

BOA are a trio of musicians from Bristol, and with the first two songs they've released have had two different vocalists, and their latest cut - "Wasted" - features the remaining member on lead vocals. Joe (or JL as it's put) has the deepest vocals of the trio and gives them the extra zest, it's yet another one of those Electronic bangers just waiting to be discovered.

They've recently been played on BBC Bristol and BBC West Introducing, so it looks like they're on their way up!

Track of the week... BOA - If You Stay

BOA - short for 'Better Off Alone' (a hint at a Alice Deejay influence there?) haven't been about for long, but already they're winning our hearts, and it's all down to the one track too! Their début track is called "If You Stay" and it's already got our attention, from the off the crackling vinyl and the gentle picking of a lovely guitar welcomes you to their first ever cut. Then the vocals come in, and wow, they're silky smooth, easily on par with London Grammar here, what gets better is that the deep bass kicks in too and gives you a chill down your spine and the track a whole lot more depth.

The further the track progresses the better it gets to be honest, it easily shows off what the band seems to be about, electronics, processed drum beats, delicate vocals and dreamy guitars. The heart-on-your-sleeve track (as you might be able to tell) has completely won us over! Expect to see them play live soon as the Bristol trio are set to explode soon, we can't wait to hear more!
