[LISTEN] Franklin - Blueberry Sky

Franklin have unveiled their second track lifted from their upcoming EP. "Blueberry Sky" was part-revealed a month ago with a teaser and the full track has certainly lived up to my expectations. It's a dreamy track, with washes of wallowing guitar lines and atmospheric sounds to send you into another dimension.

If you could imagine The Neighbourhood's West coast feel crossed with Ben Howard's atmosphere then you've basically got what Franklin are trying to achieve, a real delight for your ears. Head on down, check it out and vote for them in the Boardmasters competition.

[LISTEN] Franklin - Causes

The trio from St. Albans have revealed their lead track off their brand new EP "Blueberry Sky", it's called "Causes" and is one of their most well rounded tracks yet. The EP was recorded in The Pigeon Detectives' studio after the Leeds band saw them perform in Hertford's Forum back in 2015.

The track has such an anthemic feel to it with big guitar lines, vocal hooks and a driving drumbeat that'll certainly get you in the mood for a good grooving. Franklin's new EP is out soon, but to tease you a bit they're offering this up as a free download, what nice guys!

Franklin tease new music with "Blueberry Sky" snippet

The St. Albans based trio have been recently in the studio with The Pigeon Detectives and this is the first piece of new music we've had from them. "Blueberry Sky" is the first slice of their new EP which is due to released in the next month or so and features some more electronics, bigger and bolder atmospheric sounds and some huge vocals.

[TRACK OF THE WEEK] Franklin - Cold Heart

We've already posted about Franklin, their track "Part II" was one we absolutely adored and today we thought to bring you a review of another one of their tracks, this one's "Cold Heart", which is the 4th track on their EP "Dirty Drug".

The band seem to be going from strength to strength with every track I get sent by them, "Cold Heart" is the culmination of months of hard work, and with it sitting in at a staggering six minutes long you can easily compare it to Foals' "Spanish Sahara", it's equally as stunning and beautiful. It takes a slow and well written start to the song with just guitars and drums welcoming you, then gives way to some lighter guitar tones and vocals with the track bit by bit gaining more atmosphere.

When it gets to the halfway mark your jaw is on the floor, it's that in-your-face mindblowingly epic, with it picking up speed as it progresses you're left with a great tune stuck in your head, you'll be hitting the repeat button a lot from now on! We even popped down to see them perform the other day just to be sure on their talent, and I can confirm that even when performing live they've got so much atmosphere! Just listen and love!

[LISTEN] Franklin - PART II (Feat; Benny Banks)

Remember when Arctic Monkeys put out "Temptation Treats You Like A Naughty Friend", the track featured two genres collide when Dizzee Rascal laid down some vocals. The Indie fans were all up in arms about it, but on the whole people warmed to it after a few listens - and that's exactly what's happened here with Franklin's track "PART II".

"PART II" features a grime rapper called Benny Banks feature on vocals in the final third of the track. The track itself is a lovely dream-pop affair layered with electronic licks similar to Bloc Party's third album "Intimacy". They seem to be sitting on a right gem here, and a bright future for this quartet lays ahead of them!
