The XX poised for new album in 2016

So Jamie XX's solo debut album came out last year, and it had his fellow The XX band-mates lend some vocals to it too. Jamie said about LP3 - "We've learned so much from making 'Coexist'. The first album was basically just us putting together everything we'd released at that point, and we had more control in how we wanted an album to sound overall on 'Coexist'. That's something we’ll try again, however the new one ends up sounding."

And with the big festivals announcing acts left right and centre there's two major UK festivals yet to announce their headline acts, that's Reading & Leeds as well as Glastonbury. The band closed The Other Stage in 2013 and are easily big enough to headline The Pyramid, and with a new album around the corner I can see that a huge possibility.

[LISTEN] Jamie xx + Four Tet + Romy - Seesaw (Club Version)

It's a great day when you know a new Four Tet remix is out in the world, and here he's shared his 'Club Version' of Jamie XX's track "Seesaw", which see's fellow The XX member Romy on guest vocals.  However, don't expect to see this in any 'decent' (I say 'decent' loosely here) club soon, but expect to see it played in a Four Tet DJ set sometime over the summer!

Head on down and click on play!

The XX forced to change name to The YY due to claim from porn companies

Much like when Brother had to change their name to Viva Brother, and when Liberty had to change their name to Liberty X, it looks like no one is safe, as The XX are now set to be called The YY as of April. The reason behind this is a lawsuit from an 'adult movie' organisation who have put forward a claim that they've been using the name 'The XX' for their DVD releases and have a rather big following in the adult entertainment world.

Jamie YY, Romy and Oliver
This is a joke by the way!

Jamie XX (and maybe The XX) to play Glastonbury 2015

The XX's label - Young Turks - have announced that (at least) Jamie XX is set to play the festival in Somerset this June. This was announced after Jamie XX revealed one of his latest tracks on the BBC's Radio 1 show.

Jamie XX reveals new track - "Loud Places" - featuring The XX's Romy

This could easily be the perfect filler for fans of The XX as they wait for the third LP. But it's a mere side project, that of Jamie XX's. "Loud Places" features The XX's Romy on vocal duties and this makes Jamie's début LP one of the most anticipated of the year!

Jamie XX gives an update regarding The XX's new LP

While speaking to Fader, the producer has been speaking about his solo LP and The XX's new album.  He said - "We've got quite a lot of songs that are not finished, but I'm excited about it" and then adding "It feels a lot more free than when we were making the last record."

And if that didn't whet your appetite he has also said that he's 'mixing his album' but adding "There's one track where I need to get the vocal on, but I don't know who the vocalist is going to be yet." - Looks like 2015 will be a good year for fans of the band!

The XX's label accuses Hugo Boss of plagiarism

A brand that builds itself around it's uniuque-ness has got themselves into hot water here by plagiarising The XX's "Intro" in their new advertising video. You can take a look at what Young Turks think of this in the tweet below, and also there is the video that's started all of this.

The XX's new album will be a "completely different concept"

XL’s in-house producer Rodaidh McDonald has said that they’re working through a "completely different concept," and are "trying everything, trying to find new ways of working, new sounds."

In the interview with DAZED magazine he goes on to say...
"We're doing it in Texas and Iceland, and maybe France. So that's kind of starting in the middle of July, I’ve already spent a bit of time with them in Texas. There are songs which have come out of our experiences in New York and Texas that would never have come out in London; the colours and the ideas and the moods on some of these songs are just not things you would write in London. It's about opening things up a bit more. They are a London band, but they're also a band that’s spent a lot of time in different countries. So we’re trying to push that further with the Iceland trip, which is happening in July."

Daily Download... The XX - Fiction (N.O.N. Edit)

I sometimes prefer an 'edit' of a song rather a full blown remix, and this version of  "Fiction" by The XX has been made better by N.O.N - what's more is that's a free MP3!

All you need to do is 'like' the facebook page and download!
