Pin Me Down are back! Russell and Melina are back with a single a day before the pre-ordered download is avaliable.



Treasure Hunter is a slower track compared to their other 4 tracks released on various websites. But then the faster towards the end. The single is accompanied with a acoustic track that works well. They are doing a acoustic gig in London next week for Record Store Day and the new stuff (previewed on Juno) sounds awsome too.

Hopefully they will tour after Russell comes back from his Ash tour. Anyway, enough waffling about here are the two tracks from the single.

Track of the day... Pin Me Down - Time Crisis (Co-Pilots Turbulence Remix)

People who are into slightly cheesy, endlessly blissful euro-dance don't 'blog about music. I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to see this non-phenomenon, but it's a startling realisation nonetheless. If they did, they'd absolutely love this remix of "Time Crisis"; which imbues contemporary Balearicisms with a heart ripped out of some young lover when he was too high on noggin bogglers to know what his own name was.Bloc Party guitarist Russell Lissack, who is both Co-Pilots and one half of Pin Me Down, which probably explains why this sounds made by someone who's double-high atm.

Track of the day... Pin Me Down - Everything Is Sacred

Pin Me Downs new album is only a week away... well pre-ordered special download only.

But still, here is a sneak preview at one (nah TWO) or their tracks, the first is 'Everything Is Sacred' and the second I have now came to think is called 'Fight Song'. Until the official release these are going to be assumed as demos, due to the roughness and shoddy production on the songs, anyway...

Track of the day... Pin Me Down - Curious (Shibuya Edition)

Pin Me Down (or PMD for short...) have suddenly blown me away with the sudden news of a 11 track album, at least 4 of the tracks we have already heard before, maybe they will be a re-mastered/re-recorded version? If not we have a full length album from the most promising things from the Bloc Party side projects competition.



Others are 'Young Legionnaire' and 'Kele Okereke', Young Legionnaire have only played one gig so far, but I was there and have to say, all be the intimate free (yes FREE!) gig at Old Blue Last this was a very good set from the Gordon Moakes (Guitar/Bass/Vocals), William Bowerman (Drums) and Paul Mullen (Guitar/Vocals). Also Kele has apparently been doing some solo work, some promising stuff was announced around October 2009 but nothing YET has materialised. He has been globe-trotting since the 'hiatus'.

Anyway, you can buy the various differant packages from their website which I will link you to below.

Right the track, this is a ironic track name considering it's a peek into the new album, the remix (I think) is very well done and I can not wait until the studio version comes out in April. You can only get this (at the moment) by buying something from the store on the website.

Track of the day... Pin Me Down - Cryptic

It’s a bit of a late review as it’s been a while since it’s release but Pin Me Down - Cryptic (on the Kitsune label), definitely worth mentioning. Cryptic ... to some this will sound like a Bloc Party riff blu-tacked onto a dance beat, while to others a Girls Aloud demo, which actually aren't a million miles apart as the Arctic Monkeys/Girls Aloud mash-up

This is Bloc Party's guitarist Russell Lissack and New York songwriter Milena Mepris paired up side project. It opens with an immediately familiar guitar chop, at first it doesn't quite stick, barely enough to warrant a second listen, but press replay and you won't regret it. "A little bit Cryptic" is the sweetest romp of a chorus, while the indie-esque verses are bizarrely complemented by assured early 90's dance influenced production.

The band made their live debut as a 5-6 piece in May 2008 in London, supporting Yeasayer and headlining several of their own shows. The track features brilliant remixes by Phones(producer and remixer Paul Epworth), Jamie Ellis (of Battle) and Russell Lissack, Dave P & Adam Sparkles and Dubka Cazals. The Vocals of Milena Mepris reminds me of Cindy Lauper, well in a good way…
