[LISTEN] Passport To Stockholm - Better Days

Passport To Stockholm have unveiled their brand new track, "Better Days". The London quartet have returned with a track that has lots of gorgeous vocal melodies, strings and some glorious acoustic guitars. If you add in the foot tapping, hand-clapping, sing-a-long ready chorus then you could say they're onto a winner!

We like this a lot, so head on down and check it out - and if you're on a PC head up to check it out too as it's our featured track!

Passport To Stockholm unveil video for "Imperfections"

Passport To Stockholm have unveiled the video for their latest single "Imperfections". Shot in The Obelisk Pub on the UK's south coast, the video accurately depicts the song's themes, by pinpointing various different people's shortcomings, culminating in a full on bar brawl.

Having been a 'Track of the week' artist twice before, we're certainly loving their latest effort, and if you like it too go and check them out at Camden's Barfly venue on 16th September.

The Weekly Catch-Up (w/e 9th August)

Happy Saturday to one and all, it's that time of week again where we delve into the past 7 days to re-live the best new music from all over the world. New videos, covers, new tracks and even some new music from IAI faves MOATS!

Bel Esprit

Bel Esprit - Lose My Mind

Southampton based Bel Esprit have today given us the privilege to unveil their brand new single "Lose My Mind" with the B-Side too called "The Mad Ones". The band are one of the south-coasts top up and coming bands and with this latest single that's pretty much a dead cert now!

Moats - Jeff Buckley

The track makes use of the bands strong-points, Matt's lovely gruff vocals, Nathan's relentless drumming, James and Will's tight guitar skills. This track is a long way off from their early stuff, but all bands evolve, I'm liking their new sound!

Ben Howard - End of the Affair

Ben Howard has unveiled a dramatic first track as a taster to his forthcoming second album this evening (5th August). "End Of The Affair" is now streaming just below if you hadn't noticed! Also details of the second album will be announced imminently.

Rae Morris - Cold (PANES Remix)

Rae Morris has unveiled PANES' huge remix of her track Cold ft Fryars, out now. Rae will be playing festivals throughout the summer, including headlining the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading & Leeds Festival in 3 weeks time.

Happyness - You Come To Kill Me?!

New music is revealed by Happyness today, in the shape of "You Come To Kill Me?!", a brand new track taken from the forthcoming "Anything I Do Is All Right" EP. The EP, released digitally on September 1st will cap a string of sold out live dates that has seen them support Jamie T!

Passport to Stockholm - Imperfections

One of the surprises last year at Gloucester's Underground Festival was Passport To Stockholm, and it's pretty much safe to say we've been following them since. And today the band has uploaded a brand new track called "Imperfections", which is odd because I can't find anything wrong with it!

Pixel Fix - Still

The Oxford band's latest EP "Running Thin" is out now (4th August), and you can stream the final song off the EP here, which is the rather delightful ambient track "Still". Mainly an instrumental apart from some airy whispers and yelps the guitars too help you properly relax.

Swoons - Nothing to Explain

The Buckinghamshire based band have released a brand new demo called "Nothing To Explain". The Bluesy band have had a good year with some great support slots and are basically celebrating by giving away this new demo.

Track of the week... Passport To Stockholm - Chemistry

We only had a Passport To Stockholm track as 'Track of the week' two months ago, yet since then they've been in the studio recording for their up and coming EP. The title track from that EP is "Chemistry" and that's the one we're going to be banging on about all week. Ever since we first laid our ears upon their music we've been in awe of it all!

So the track - that's why we are here! - the opening of the song sounds like the opening to a SRXT by Bloc Party, anthematic, full of strings and with layers of wonderful sounds. The track then slows down to a quiet guitar strum, the strings again and Barny's warming vocals. The track has a sense of the familiar with it, but with the twist they've put on the 'acoustic' song, with the Chello, the looping guitars and the harmonious vocals they've certainly hit upon a great track here!

You can pre-order their EP here!

Passport To Stockholm reaches goal on Pledge Music

The band announced last week that they were going to fund their new EP via Pledge Music, a website that aims to help bands with crowd-funding. So for example, paying for a CD with a huge amount of the money going towards the band, rather the label.

However, 5% of all money raised will be going towards Back Up Trust - who raise money to help people who have suffered spinal chord injuries.

You can listen to a track that we've featured before below.  The Chemistry EP will be out in 41 days, so get on it!

Track of the week... Passport To Stockholm - Wanted It More

We came across this lovely four piece from London at Underground Festival in Gloucester. We go every year with the objective to find some amazing new music, and this year was continuing along with the trend. On the Sunday afternoon we came across Passport To Stockholm, a band that incorporates the usual Guitars along with a folk drum-kit and a cello. The last time we saw a band use a Cello was Grammatics a few years back, and how I've missed the sound of one of those!

So the track that stood out in their set was "Wanted It More", it's a lovely delicate folk-pop track on the same level of quality as The Lumineers' and with vocals that remind you of a young Mumford. But the band are not to be compared to them easily as they've got great stage presence and a wonderful backing of tracks to grab your attention. Here the usual Bass Guitar is replaced by a Cello, which really works for the track and it looks like the band have created a stand-out track that'll see them get signed in no time! Passport To Stockholm have a great batch of songs on their soundcloud account, just click and listen - it'll be the best thing you're going to listen to all week!
