We've noticed that they shared a free download on their facebook page, it's brilliant remix of their up-coming single. Single Review... Films Of Colour - Running

After a great year last year the band are setting their sights even higher, with an album on its way and a jaunt to America for some shows state-side and even popping down to SXSW for some shows!

Running:
‘Running’ is a great statement to make to their fans, they really mean business! With a great build up with deep synths and wonderful backing vocals they've laid down a track that'll really go down with their state-side fans. Currently in SXSW this track is going to down a storm with the really catchy lyrics they've crafted.
Out of 10: 7.5/10



Creature Of Habit:
Like all of their B-Sides this one also seems to be on the experimental side, they've clearly drawn their main influence of Radiohead into the frame for this song. But as a you delve further into this song they've yet again made an amazing chorus to hook the audience into. With a rush of guitars, slightly distorted vocals and great effects used on the guitar pedals the end of the song is a wall of noise, such a great ending too!

Films Of Colour – Running: (It's All Indie)

Decibels - The Lesser: (Slate The Disco)

"I’d rather be hated by your friends" We're getting very excited by the début single release from The Lesser. A blissful mix of lo-fi, ambient, electro and Indie, Decibels ’ début single The Lesser sees it’s UK release on March 26th. The band, Marin Luk (Synths, Soprano Harmonies, Percussion) and Adam Branaghan (Guitar, Tenor Harmonies, Percussion) came together after meeting at a rave in Northampton’s woods, which is just cool in eyes.




Holy Esque – Rose (Demo): (It's All Indie)

This track is a Post-Rock juggernaut, filled with attitude and imposing vocals you'll never stop thinking about them after you've laid your ears to this beauty! Holy Esque is what I'd define Post-Punk Revival by, big bold guitars, chunky bass and vocals that are so dominant throughout the track!




Reptar - Stuck In My ID: (Slate The Disco)

"There’s no hope, no future, no more of these ties to you" Reptar's début international single, 'Stuck In My ID', will be released physically as a very special limited seven inch single/CD EP package for Record Store Day on April 21st and as a single track download only on April 23rd. The single and EP, entitled Oblangle Fizz Y’all, have both been produced by Ben H Allen (Animal Collective, Gnarls Barkley, Bombay Bicycle Club). Think MGMT and Passion Pit and you'll be onto the vibe these guys produce. Fizzing synths and jangling melodies, and hail the exciting future of indie pop.

Track of the year is ... New Ivory - A Knight

New Ivory have smashed their way to the top spot on our 'Track of the year' for 2011. They first caught our eyes way back in early June, here is the original post.



They won with 345 votes out of the 1045 cast. A close second place is the best performing international act for the second year running, and third was a close battle between two bands that are very close to each others hearts, Safari and VOWS.

Films Of Colour release a new demo

Films Of Colour placed third on our 'Sounds Of 2012' list, and they already are making good progress towards their dominance on the Indie scene. The track (which you can get for free from their facebook page) sounds like a homage to Radiohead, with some Experimental elements in there and some glitchy vocals flowing over the drum-machine-esque beats.



Yes this may be a demo, but I can see this being amazing in the coming year. You can check out the progression of the band on our blog by clicking the 'Films Of Colour' tab below this post. This is another Christmas day treat, go and like their page and download now, it's seriously worth it!

Films Of Colour - Tightrope (Demo)

Sounds of 2012 - #3 - Films Of Colour

Films of Colour are: Andy Clutterbuck (vocals), James Hatcher (guitar), Jack Allinson (bass/synths) and James Rees-Flynn (drums). They are one of the best finds in the world of It's All Indie in the past year, with two singles and a David Bowie endorsed track being released they are lapping up all of the pre-album success.



Having played KoKo and Shepherds Bush already this year, I wouldn't be surprised by this time next year they'd be on everyone's lips, with amazing tracks such as 'Capital', 'Circles', 'Actions' and 'Persinette' they've already managed to create four amazing tracks to call their own, also they've covered a Bowie song, 'Slow Burn', which has been promoted on the Bowie official website and by such media sites as NME.com! It is a darn certainty that 2012 will be a big year for the four lads from London, I hope they're ready, because it's going to be a whirlwind. Expect an album and some live dates soon!

News: Films Of Colour get the nod from Bowie producer

Hotly tipped London band Films of Colour have won the attention of legendary David Bowie producer Tony Visconti with their version of Slow Burn, released on 12th December as a free download. Originally produced by Visconti for the Thin White Duke's 2001 album Heathen, Films of Colour’s version of Slow Burn came to Visconti's attention earlier this year following the online buzz around the band’s single Capital/Persinette.

Visconti was sent the band’s version of Slow Burn (which he shared with Bowie) and loved it, instantly flying to London to see the band perform. He was blown away and is now lined up to work with the band in the studio. Visconti rarely works with unsigned acts and most recently produced albums for the Kaiser Chief’s, Morrisey and the Manic Street Preachers.



Talking about Films of Colour and their version of Bowie's Slow Burn, Tony Visconti said:

"When I was given a batch of demos to consider working with Films Of Colour I was struck with how many catchy songs they had written. I was also impressed with the quality of their demos; that they were clever, creative lads was very apparent. But one song stuck out, sounding so familiar yet I didn't really recognise it until the second chorus. I knew the song because I produced it with David Bowie on his 2001 album Heathen. But Films of Colour had altered it so much they had clearly made it their own. I think Bowie is one of the most difficult artists to cover, since his versions of his own compositions seem to be the definitive versions. After I heard Films of Colour's version I was completely won over."

Single Review... Films Of Colour - Capital/Persinette

Films Of Colour are back, and not only that, they are back with a racey, pulsating, and lip smacking single! Releasing their début single Actions through tastemaker label Fandango/Fierce Panda, Films of Colour were described by head honcho Simon Williams as the best band he’s signed since Radiohead and Coldplay. Films of Colour are: Andy Clutterbuck (vocals), James Hatcher (guitar), Jack Allinson (bass/synths) and James Rees-Flynn (drums)

Capital:
‘Capital is about your everyday, a comment on the back and forth of metropolitan living and how we come out the better for it’ – Andy Clutterbuck (Vocals). It is a racey track and it feels like you are on a roller-coaster, the blips and beeps at the beginning is the tow up the hill, the drumming is the peak and the guitar is the race down the slope and the loops! They seriously have some talent and it shows right through on this track, the guitar hooks on this track are just mesmerising and it makes me reminisce of a band called Bloc Party, these guys are hot on their Dance-Rock heels!

Persinette:
Starts of as a dark track, with fast drums and bass with almost horror-esque guitar effects. Then you are lulled into thinking that's the setting for the track, nope... It then gains pace and hit you when you are not expecting it, it drops before that happens then you get welcomed with a growing pulsating riff and high bass notes. It then explodes into an orgy of noise, then it suddenly stops. This track is too good to be a B-Side... seriously, I love it!

Track of the week... Films Of Colour - Actions

Having only heard about this band for just over a day, (give thanks to Andrew Dutton for pointing me in the right direction) they have given me a new light to shine onto you guys! This band sound as epic as you can get!

My track of the week is entitled 'Actions', it starts off from the get go as a track you know you will love. The guitar and drums work in tandem to provide a wonderful sound, the vocal bridge comes in and you know the chorus will be a powerful Indie-Rock chorus. Yup, sure is. The powerful vocals continue throughout the chorus and give way to the noise given off from the various pedals for the next verse to begin.



It kicks back in with more of the same awesome, epic, astonishing and simply sublime musicianship. The bridge right before the madness of riffs is wonderful, it then gives way to this orgy of music. Seriously, it is amazing how only 1,444 people on facebook know of them. I want them to be big, for the sake of music, the sake of continuing the brilliant Indie acts from the UK, keeping my faith in music from the capital and for the band themselves.
