Gig Review... As Elephants Are @ Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen, London, 9th May 2013

As you may already know, we are totally in love with this band. We came across As Elephants Are at the beginning of the year and ever since then we've been loving everything the band has to offer. Having not seen them live I went down to see them support Animal Kingdom in hipster hot-spot Hoxton.

They opened with their latest single "Youth Blood", and straight from the off they captured the attention of the early birds. The memorising guitar riff opened the song with Ben's vocals captivating the crowd. The trend continued when they played out the flip-side to the latest single; "Youth Blood". This song too caught everyone out, the darker feel to the song proved that the band have talent and with the vocals just being on top form here everyone was head-banging along to the beat.

The band then played an array of new songs such as "Crystal", "Light Up", an untitled song and "Fiction". The latter of the songs mentioned is an absolute stormer, with an amazing chorus and bridges between the verses I can easily see this being the song that gets them recognised by the larger audience, a real crowd pleaser and a winner in my eyes to being a summer hit when they play the festival circuit.

As Elephants Are just proved to me tonight how good un-signed bands really can be, they're a really talented band that just needs that little bit more exposure to get them to the place they belong, playing the big venues and festivals. The euphoric songs they have crafted are just waiting to be heard, you should really make sure you see them as soon as you can!
